Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 03, 2011 4:02 pm Hi all, We would like floor to ceiling tiling in our bathrms, builder came back with a price off nearly $3,000 just for our ensuite. To me this is a CRAZY price because eventho our ensuite is quite big there is not alot of open wall. Closed in toilet 1 corner, spa in another, double shower to another wall & double vanity to another. I asked builder if we could do it after handover, they said its better to do before as the bthrms need their cornice on before handover. Sounds fair to me Question is : is this price exy or am i being cheap cheers Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! I couldnt see a reason why they would need to. How would it work when you met the corner between a tiled and non tiled wall? /subscribed I have a few walls that I would like to tile floor ceiling after handover, i was just hoping i could chip off the skirting tiles and just 'slap' them on the wall. Re: Floor to ceiling tiling, how can we do it after handover! 3Aug 03, 2011 6:58 pm kerry-ann .........they said its better to do before as the bthrms need their cornice on before handover. Our builder packed out the cornices - they know exactly by how much - and we tiled all the way up AFTER handover! Easy peasy ! the builder just wants you to pay the $3000 Edit : I suggest you speak to your tiles supplier & ask them how much the cornice needs to be packed out. Give that measurement to your builder. Done deal! But the above is the answer they gave. They would tile as per normal,i wondered if it could be a prob as the walls would be plastered & a tiler coming in after & trying to follow on. Are the walls plastered & then tiled, maybe a girly question, but i have no idea! Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! If I knew I was going to do full wall tiles beforehand I would have left the cornice off and put it on after, but it's no big deal. As for the $3000 price, well that depends how many m2 you have ? Re: Floor to ceiling tiling, how can we do it after handover! 8Aug 03, 2011 7:50 pm I thought as much, thanks for your answers thats a great help. Re: Floor to ceiling tiling, how can we do it after handover! 11Aug 03, 2011 10:58 pm I'm pretty sure the tiling to ceiling, as well as the non standard sized tiles in our bathroom and ensuite cost us around $6k, so the cost might be about standard for a builder, which might be different to the cost of actually doing it my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Floor to ceiling tiling, how can we do it after handover! 12Aug 03, 2011 11:22 pm Pcd i'm onto it I think in my little email to builder i'm also gonna ask how many mtres it is Testedbytime what is square set please Tinkster it prob works out to about 1 wall taking out everything else that is in there, its really not much.
