Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 02, 2011 1:47 pm H everyone, I'm a new poster and wanted to ask about bathroom tiling. We are owner building our Queenslander and my husband wanted to tile to the ceiling, but as its not really a feature of the style of home we are building, I think this is a waste and overkill. We are looking at the wall tiles in a brick pattern with a featured colour tile (or lip) around the top edge. either chair or picture rail height. Is tiling to the ceiling necessary, in any style of home? It is alot more expensive and not really in keeping with the design we are doing... I would love to read your thoughts.... Michelle Re: new here with tiling question 2Aug 03, 2011 8:55 am I have never seen tiling on a ceiling ever. I can't think of a reason to put tiles on a ceiling either Re: new here with tiling question 3Aug 03, 2011 10:10 am I think she meant tiling to the ceiling, i.e. tiling the entire wall up to the ceiling height. While I by no means think it is necessary, in my opinion it looks more stylish to tile to ceiling height and I plan on doing it in my current renovations. I can't think of a reason to put tiles on a ceiling either I'm talking about tiling to the ceiling, not tiling on the ceiling! We've decided against it anyway..it doesn't go with the style of house.. Re: new here with tiling question 5Aug 03, 2011 8:02 pm If you want to use tiling to the ceiling then make sure the tiles are light in weight. So that if they fall off they doesn't cause much harm. Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7548 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones. Bugger of a job getting the old… 0 8088 4 14463 |
