Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 27, 2011 9:18 pm There is not much information about heated towel rails out on the net. By info I mean reliability, heating score and towel drying score I normally look to choice magazine for there recommendations when it comes to electrical items, but they have not tested them. I am leading toward radiant as they are advertised in shops as being the best. Re: Choice of Heated Towel rail .Opinions and experiences Pl 2Aug 12, 2011 11:39 pm Watching !!! P_D . Re: Choice of Heated Towel rail .Opinions and experiences Pl 6Oct 01, 2011 12:10 pm You must have big towels Buttercup , most of the ones I have seen have been 900mm wide. One of my clients looked at these and didn't like any of them so what they did was install another heating duct in the floor directly below where their main towel rail was going to go. Works a treat too except in summer obviously. The thing I don't like about them is that you may buy a five bar heated towel rail but the rails are all above each other. This means that if you put five damp towels on this rail then they are all in contact with each other and would take a long time to dry out. Much better would be to buy a two bar rail which is horizontal to each other. I am still waiting on our tiler to complete the tiling. I also purchased the timer switch that the site recomended, so it will be hardwired in. As soon as it is in and functioning I will give you my opinion. Oh I can't wait to get my ensuite back. Re: Choice of Heated Towel rail .Opinions and experiences Pl 9Oct 02, 2011 5:26 pm I am looking for some nice heated towel rails for my new house. any ideas where to get them for a good price ? Also is there much difference between stainless steel and chrome steel? ie does the chrome ever rust ? Thanks Ben Re: Choice of Heated Towel rail .Opinions and experiences Pl 11Oct 02, 2011 11:37 pm We looked at heated towel rails, but decided to with heated floors instead, as it would warm the bathroom better (and in summer, drying towels isn't a problem). FWIW, you actually fold the towels over, rather than spread them out (so you can fit several towels side by side), when you use heated towel rails. Counterintuitive, but that was the advice I received in Germany, where hydronic towel rails are common. Re: Choice of Heated Towel rail .Opinions and experiences Pl 12Oct 03, 2011 9:52 am Buttercup yep would love to hear others opinions we need to find a towel rail that is wide enough to hang a towel without having to fold it in half You can buy lengths of towel rail and the posts for them - just depends if you can find studs to screw the posts wide enough apart....... You don't have to buy a prepackaged unit. Re: Choice of Heated Towel rail .Opinions and experiences Pl 13Jan 29, 2012 9:29 am I'm a newbie on these forums, but thanks to all the wonderful sharing of ideas and suggestions, I've learnt heaps. I'm interested in heated towel rails myself, but similarly not too keen on the "ladder" variety as I'm uncertain of the efficiency of such. Anyhow, I found this, just in case anyone was still interested: http://www.hydrotherm.com.au/hydrotherm ... eries.html Another that I looked the look of is: http://www.hydrotherm.com.au/hydrotherm ... eries.html I'm sure that the typical ladder style probably works best to dry the entire towel, but admittedly in a larger household where 4 people share the same bathroom, I can't stand that thought of my towel having to touch my brother's towel just so that it'll dry! :S Electrical just got back to me and said the most they can provide is a single power point on the Bedroom 1 side of that wall.
