Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 28, 2011 11:46 pm We thought we were on the home straight, but it appears that a 1910mm wide shower screen is not possible The longest stretch of glass the builder will do for us is 1500mm, which means that we need a 410mm wall somewhere
The question is where. I cant decide. Which would you choose? what we wanted our ensuite to looks like was this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ what the builder suggested was this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ other options are : Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Im confused. Im tempted by the last option because it tries to make a feature out of something ugly and i could do away with a free standing bath filler and attach a wall spout. One the other hand, part of me wants to hide it away in the corner, but I wonder if it kills the look of the room? PS. The knobs on the screen aren't supposed to be there, I couldn't find a model for a shower screen that didn't have knobs. And the huge window is going to be privacy glass. PPS. the screen is "semi-frameless" which probably means it will have a metal frame around it. I didnt end up getting a quote for frameless... perhaps i should have? Re: Shower Screen Dilemma with pics 3Jun 29, 2011 12:49 am Could you have a floating wall/feature column at the end of the glass panel? Ours is 2m high and I think about 40cm wide. The display had their column completely tiled in a small brown strip feature tile. Ours is white with one central glass tile strip (you can see the reflection in the mirror). Our screens are semi-frameless. The panel at the entrance is a complete, fixed panel and the door panel is on the otherside of the column. Speaking from experience, absolutely insist that your tiler checks, double checks and triple checks the fall of the floor tiles. That is can you just have the 1500mm glass and no wall? This will allow you to still have the look you want. Or do you require the extra length? Re: Shower Screen Dilemma with pics 5Jun 29, 2011 11:32 am That looks really nice Oceanus2, I wonder if that was where the suggestion for how to do ours came from.
kdgirl: we are having a roof mounted shower head in the middle of that area and a shower rail in the standard position. Your shower screen has failed in the way it is designed to fail with tempered glass. You could replace it with laminated safety glass but make sure it has AS standards logo on it 1 11171 You have no photo with your post. Best I can say is to remove an A&L flyscreen don't be afraid to distort the frame almost like a trapezium. It doesn't take a lot of… 1 7071 2 4496 |
