Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 17, 2011 10:57 pm For those who have a non mirror splashback, how high is it and do you still get water marks on your mirror? Do you have an undermount, topmount or bowl type basin? How high is your splashback? 2Jun 18, 2011 12:08 am 700mm splash back, sink is on the island bench so no water mark issue. Undermount basin. Re: How high is your splashback? 4Jun 18, 2011 12:46 pm Bathroom. Hence why I've put it in the bathrooms subforum :p How high is your splashback? 6Jun 18, 2011 10:06 pm Opps sorry, I am using tapatalk on my phone so didn't see what the post was under. I have seen a display with a row of small tiles then a mirror for a kitchen splashback and thought you meant like that. Anyway ours is 300mm with an undermount sink, and yes the mirror still gets splashed. Re: How high is your splashback? 7Jun 18, 2011 10:29 pm We have the normal drop-in style of basin on a flat benchtop. Splash is 40cm high, then the mirror. I think it's too high, I'm missing that bit of the mirror as I got used to having it at the rental. BTW, water splashes are absolutely nothing to me compared to not having mirror low enough (and in general - I was just thinking about that the other day!!) Re: How high is your splashback? 8Jun 18, 2011 10:34 pm We have a mirror in the main bathroom, and tiles up to 300mm in the ensuite, then a shelf and the mirror above that. My side of the mirror stays clean... cant say the same for my OH's side... Re: How high is your splashback? 9Jun 18, 2011 11:36 pm Thanks everyone!!! Erin, does the bottom of your shelf get wet at all? Re: How high is your splashback? 10Jun 19, 2011 8:50 am Nope, not at all. I dont have the tap turned full on though, just enough water pressure to wash my hands and clean my tooth brush. Re: How high is your splashback? 11Jun 19, 2011 2:50 pm Thanks Erin. Rups, do you open your tap fully? Is that why it still splashes? Lex, would you have preferred 300 instead or even less than that? Re: How high is your splashback? 13Jun 19, 2011 8:04 pm Sorry, another question, are everyone's vanities 90cm high? I wonder if that makes a difference with splashing? Re: How high is your splashback? 14Jun 19, 2011 9:05 pm 84.5 cm in Powder room. BUT, this is from finished tiling, which includes screed - all up about 4cm of screed+tile. Then the vanity. I think it's the same in bathrooms too, too lazy to go upstairs Also, it would depend how tall people in the household (on average) are. A taller person may get away with higher splashback. Re: How high is your splashback? 15Jun 19, 2011 9:33 pm Thank you lex Oh, and I want the splashback as low as possible (but still avoiding the splashes on the mirror) Not to fussy, hey? Re: How high is your splashback? 16Jun 20, 2011 8:50 am IMO, it's not worth it. The fact is that mirrors will never stay clean if used (unless you go as high as we did, but even then!). Next time I'd be more consistent and choose functionality over looks (or squeaky cleanlines) everywhere in my house. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: How high is your splashback? 17Jun 20, 2011 8:55 am IMO it's not usually the tap that creates the splashes on the mirrors, but the user of said tap. Those who like to flick the water off their toothbrush, flick the excess water off their hands before wiping them. So after years of experience I say train your family not to flick. My mirror never has splashes, DH's on the other hand How high is your splashback? 18Jun 24, 2011 5:52 pm Hi blue, The tap isn't open fully. The mirror just gets splashed. Like when your hands are wet and you turn it off. Shaking hands before grabbing the towel, washing my face etc... Maybe a mixer could reduce the splashes when compared to taps. Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive). Would require a mini… 13 30518 It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard. At least they are not weep holes. Are you in a high intensity rainfall region? The regulatory slope is only required… 3 5254 |
