Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jun 15, 2011 5:37 am Is it worth doing floor to ceiling tiling in the bathroom? It will cost me $800 for main bathroom and $1k for ensuite. I'm just having white gloss tiles. Will the look be better? Floor to ceiling tiling 2Jun 15, 2011 7:00 am Kdgirl - there are literally tens of threads asking the same question. If it is what YOU want and creates the look YOU want then do it. We chose to do it for the main ensuite but not for the other 3 ensuites. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Floor to ceiling tiling 3Jun 15, 2011 3:12 pm We originally tiled to 1.4m in the laundry, took one look during the process and opted to go all the way up. Even though it's a laundry and it's white tiles, it's much cleaner, looks great and don't regret it. I think it does depend on cost overall, what you can afford and what you will like the look of in the long run. I have no idea of the actual value of it as it's just part of our package. Re: Floor to ceiling tiling 4Jun 15, 2011 3:22 pm Kyton - I did do a search and couldn't find anything I was after to answer my question Becks81 - thanks for you opinion. I think I have made the right decision to go with it. The cleaner look is a swaying factor i think. Floor to ceiling tiling 5Jun 15, 2011 4:47 pm Sorry am on my ph so only able to do basic search. viewtopic.php?t=40371 viewtopic.php?t=39912 viewtopic.php?t=36534 viewtopic.php?t=32436 Here are some that might be able to help. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Floor to ceiling tiling 7Jun 15, 2011 9:55 pm We have done floor to ceiling white rectified gloss in all bathrooms and laundry. We have a marbly tile onthe floor. All tiles throughout the house are the same with chrome edging. Looks the business and worth the expense. Re: Floor to ceiling tiling 8Jun 15, 2011 10:38 pm We wouldn't have it any other way, do much nicer, easier to look after etc. Cost us a bomb, but it'll be worth it my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Floor to ceiling tiling 9Jun 16, 2011 8:00 am Tinkster ... the cost us a bomb bit is too true. I never believed how much tiling could cost!!!! Unbelievable!!! But asyou say worth it because it really looks the business. Re: Floor to ceiling tiling 11Jun 16, 2011 10:28 am I have gone with floor to ceiling in the bathrooms. Tiles are 300mm x 400mm In the w/c and powder room I've gone with 1200mm height with white 300mm x 400mm tiles Laundry I just left as is (also completely changed my planned floor colour, hope it still goes with cupboards and paint! ) Re: Floor to ceiling tiling 12Jun 17, 2011 9:01 am I think you have made a good choice. For us it wasnt about style but more about longevity of the bathroom and ability to keep it looking nice. We only tiled the whole room in the laundry because I was too lazy to work out where to and not to tile!!!! We lived in Germany for many years and all bathrooms are tiled wall to ceiling as a standard, well at least the ones we lived in and despite them not being big or glamourous tiles it certianly made a huge difference to the way the bathroom looked and how easy ti was to keep clean. Re: Floor to ceiling tiling 13Jun 25, 2011 7:38 am we tiled floor to ceiling 600x600 in the bathrooms and powder room. in the laundry we just went 300mm above the benchtop and 150mm above the floor tile. We used the same tiles on the floor as the walls. it's come up nice! I wasn't planning on tiling to the ceiling in the powder room but it was written into the finishing schedule, so we just left it that way. you can get a good idea from the reflection in the mirror The powder room http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/danielt25/New%20House/IMG_0368.jpg Laundry http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/danielt25/New%20House/IMG_0373.jpg Our "Better Homes Queensland" Cairns Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40451 Current stage - 1st builder's clean done. In saying that, we will still full height tile in our build purely because I prefer the look. They make the room much easier to clean for one, reflect more light (if light colour tiles are used), and you dont end up with dust on the top edge of tiles (cause most… 3 9611 CDC Housing Code 3 When to apply Floor Area external face of wall vs Gross Floor Area internal face of wall.
