Our Crazy Owner Builder Journey! Re: Floor to ceiling tiling and square set 4May 31, 2011 12:06 am BBB, do you mean shadow line rather than square set? As others have mentioned, if you meant square set then it makes no difference. If you meant shadow line then the angle would need to be kept off the wall the tile thickness so you still maintain a shadow line after tiling. Much the same as full height tiling and cornices. The cornice will be installed after the tiling has finished. If you are having full height tiling they should always leave the cornice until the tiling is completed. That way the tiles dont cover the bottom edge of the cornice and you still see the complete cornice. In SA, it is the standard for plasterers to put in place small L plate metal angles around the the ceiling, in order to achieve a perfect 90 degree angle. I am just wondering if the same should have been done in wet areas (because it hasn't). Re: Floor to ceiling tiling and square set 10May 31, 2011 10:23 am Mrs P Our square set had plates put in around the house I think, bathroom was the same What material were those plates made out of? Re: Floor to ceiling tiling and square set 11May 31, 2011 10:58 am The angle is to stop the internal corner from cracking and opening up, which you would normally be able to see. As the full height tiling will cover the internal corner there is no need to put in the angle. As the full height tiling will cover the internal corner there is no need to put in the angle. That makes perfect sense now. Thank you.
