Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 12, 2011 7:31 pm Where do you put yours? We need one on or around the vanity, at the moment we put it on the vanity, but would really like to hide it in the new bathroom. One thought I had was to get a pull out bin like you can have in the kitchen. This is the type I am talking about: http://www.thestorageshop.net.au/pullout_bins.html. We are possibly getting our vanities custom made which does make it possible, but I have no idea how much it would cost. What else could I do? Re: bins in the bathroom 2May 12, 2011 7:38 pm In the main bathroom we have one on the floor between the vanity and the shower up against the wall, and one in the same place in the ensuite. I wouldn't put on in the cupboard unless you have heaps of cupboards... there never seems to be enough bathroom storage. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick bins in the bathroom 3May 12, 2011 7:42 pm I have ours in the vanity cupboard on DH's side so I don't lose any storage space . We don't have one in the main bathroom. Our Crazy Owner Builder Journey! bins in the bathroom 8May 13, 2011 7:18 am Well we are the exact opposite. In the minor ensuites the kids have cute little waste bins between their vanities / showers. In our main ensuite - no bins at all. Personally I prefer to take all rubbish out of the bathroom straight away. We have a wall hung which has more then enough room for a bin underneath but prefer not to have one altogether. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: bins in the bathroom 9May 13, 2011 9:33 am We're the same - no bin. Take the rubbish out when you've finished. Re: bins in the bathroom 10May 13, 2011 12:26 pm I like having a bin in all the bathrooms that visitors might visit. My parents had a huge blockage when a visitor flushed their sanitary items down the toilet (but in this case there was a bin, just wasn't used). I agree they do clutter up the space, especially if you have a wall hung vanity and like that clear floor area. We too don't want to waste vanity space with a pull out bin. Re: bins in the bathroom 12May 13, 2011 1:53 pm We have tried going without a bin in the bathroom, but it just isn't going to happen. For starters, I wash my face morning and night using a cotton ball, the kitchen is half a flight of stairs and bit of a walk away and I know what I am like and it isn't going to end up in the kichen bin that night!!! The boys bathroom is a full flight of stairs away from the kitchen and I KNOW what they will be like and rubbish will end up anywhere and everywhere so again no option but to have one in each bathroom. I like the look of the kimberley bins, thank you for the link. Gives me a few options of 'hidden' bins as I am really hoping to go for a bit of a uncluttered look (so different to now!!) I like the idea of a opening on the benchtop lift a little lid and push the rubbish into the small bin that is hanging (somehow) under the bechtop. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: bins in the bathroom 16May 13, 2011 6:57 pm RaryGirl I was trying to work out what to do here too. I like the idea of a opening on the benchtop lift a little lid and push the rubbish into the small bin that is hanging (somehow) under the bechtop. Anyone have anything like this in the bathroom or kitchen so I can see how it is done? I don't know I am not that much of a fan of my bin that I would want to cut a hole in my lovely new benchtop to create an opening for the bin!! However I can really see the merit in it. Jaime Oliver used to have one on his kitchen bench years ago (when I watched such things) and I always thought it was a brilliant idea, but again don't want to be cutting a hole in shiny new benchtop for it. Re: bins in the bathroom 19May 13, 2011 8:18 pm We have one of those "hole in the bench" bins in our benchtop in our kitchen - it is no where near as pretty as that modern one in the picture - it is more like a 1980's d*o*d*gy version with just a hinged flap in the benchtop. I think we used it for about a week but it was just a pain really, and it is on the bench where our toaster is and the crumbs get stuck in the gaps and its a pain to clean around! We haven't asked for one in our new kitchen!! Render your bathroom walls, two opinions versus the one, makes you wonder. 3 6057 Hi Geoff Install Puddle Flange prior to any screed.
