Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 06, 2011 12:00 pm We have finally moved into our house (after a marathon wait of 20 months)! One of our shower mixers produces no water at all when turned to full hot. The water is cold for all other settings, so I'm guessing there is something wrong with the valve in the mixer? We have hot water at all other taps in the house. I have contacted our builder and he says he will contact the plumber for me and so far hasn't got back to me. Given how long it took him to build the house I don't plan to hold my breath while I wait! Is this perhaps a job that we might be able to fix easily ourselves or does it need a plumber? Where should we start looking to see if we can fix it? Kylie Re: No hot water from shower mixer! 2May 08, 2011 9:19 am i reckon they might have connected the cold water to the hot by mistake. need a plumber to look at it. Tell the builder to get the plumber yer straight away or you will call someone else to come and fix and send him the bill. Any problems call the plumbing commission for qld and report it. Re: No hot water from shower mixer! 3May 12, 2011 7:01 pm It could be the cartridge in the mixer. Can you by-pass the builder and contact the supplier of your plumbing goods and have a service request put thru. Possumchops Now the proud owner of 3.7acres of Serenity. Colour selection completed! He swapped the cartridge from the bath mixer onto the shower mixer and the shower mixer cartridge worked when it was on the bath and the bath mixer cartridge didn't work when it was on the shower - so there's no problem with the shower mixer cartridge. The plumber says he's never seen anything like it. There was hot water coming out of the pipe when there was no mixer cartridge on there and no signs of any leaks in the wall. It appears there's a blockage between the pipe and the cartridge. Our builder lodged a warranty claim with the plumbing supplier who then passed it on to the manufacturer. A guy from the manufacturer called me this morning and he doesn't understand how the problem came about as he says there's no moving parts between the cartridge and the pipes and the units are all tested at the factory before they are packaged. Curiouser and curiouser... Re: No hot water from shower mixer! 5Jun 26, 2011 2:01 pm Thought I might update this thread. Manufacturer of mixer sent out plumber to investigate. After an hour or more of much head-scratching he reached the conclusion that the only explanation was that the cold water in was hooked up to the mixer shower outlet and the pipe to the shower head was hooked up to the mixer cold inlet. This easily explains why the cold flowed normally to the shower head but there was no water at all when the hot water only was on. (The hot water coming in was trying to push against the cold water coming in with nowhere for either of them to go to!) For such a simple mistake you would think most plumbers would consider this as a first thing to check out, but then, perhaps most plumbers would actually check the mixer worked properly before allowing tiling to be done over the top! So then, since it was a problem due to the way the plumbing was installed, I had to go back to the builder and get them to get it fixed via the original plumber. Of course this was not fixed in a hurry and we only got hot water to that shower this week - but it has happened - yeh!!!! We are very lucky that our house is of elevated weatherboard construction which meant that to fix the issue no brickwork or tiling had to be removed. the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 12472 I want to build a decking to the drawn shape outlined in black.
