Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 05, 2011 9:57 pm Hi, Does this layout make a decent guest bedroom for a couple(considering it is going to be used only occasionally) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My questions are: Is splitting BIR(1.1m wide each) bad idea? I can't seem to open the shower door fully without hitting the vanity. Are there any other options for the shower door except curtains? (shower size 900*900) No window in the en-suite -Does that violate any regulation? Your thoughts and insights are highly appreciated. Thank you. -Ela Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 3May 05, 2011 10:29 pm Do you really need to have split robes especially if it's going to be used occasionally as a guest room. What about using the space better and rearranging the bathroom layout with just one robe. Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 4May 05, 2011 10:31 pm Sorry cant help you with regulations as Im fairly new to building myself but have you thought about deleting one of the BIR for more bathroom space??? You could have a half size permanently fixed glass screen for the shower instead of a door??? Or have a sliding glass door. I would be inclined to get rid of one of the robes and either have a bigger shower (the robe on the right) or have the toilet where the BIR is on the left and have a double sink Building The Oceanic with Nautilus Upgrades by Dale Alcock Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=45433&p=687574#p687574 KEYS! 28.9.11 Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 5May 05, 2011 10:37 pm Does the door to the room need to remain where it is? Do you think 1m wardrobe be enough for a guest room? Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 10May 05, 2011 10:54 pm For a guest room, absolutely. Unless you needed the space for extra storage? Or will the wardrobe remain empty and just for guests? Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 12May 05, 2011 10:59 pm What's the reason you dont have a window? A small one above the toilet would be ideal. Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 13May 05, 2011 11:03 pm just Erin For a guest room, absolutely. Unless you needed the space for extra storage? Or will the wardrobe remain empty and just for guests? It's going to be used only for guests. I have separate storage room. My parents from overseas would stay there for a month or so once every 2 years. I wanna make sure they have enough space during their visit. Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 14May 05, 2011 11:05 pm oh ok, that makes sense then. Just be smart the way you fit out the wardrobe. Hanging space up the top, and perhaps shelves down the bottom half. enough space so they can unpack and feel like they're not living out of a bag. A chest of drawers in the room would also help create extra storage for clothes while they stay Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 15May 05, 2011 11:06 pm just Erin What's the reason you dont have a window? A small one above the toilet would be ideal. Only one external wall is there for that room. You can see that wall in the plan. Thanks. If you're not putting a window, at least put a decent sky light. There's nothing worse than no natural light in a bathroom. Especially a small ensuite like that. Natural light will make it feel larger. Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 18May 05, 2011 11:24 pm just Erin arasugp83 just Erin What's the reason you dont have a window? Behind the toilet wall is hallway and the behind the vanity wall is living area. Thanks again. Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 19May 05, 2011 11:27 pm Ah thank you! Makes it easier to give feedback. I suggest a sky light then. And if you're keen, instead of a solid timber door if you're having a door to the ensuite, perhaps a glass one, either clear or obscure.
