We've DIY'd a few, but my partner is a plumber, so he knew what he was doing. Guest bedroom ensuite questions 23May 06, 2011 7:17 am One of our minor ensuites is inside the house so no natural ventilation. There are no regulations against it. Just make sure you have a good light source and exhaust fan set-up. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 24May 06, 2011 9:59 am I know the standard size for showers is 900x900 but you could cut it down to 820x900 to give you a bit of extra room to open the shower door. It's not ideal, but I have a poky ensuite with a shower that is less than 800x800 and it's not that bad (though we are moving to 820x820 when we renovate). If you're not tiling the base, Marbletrend does a 'project' base that comes in 820x900... Also, if your bedroom window is not full height you could consider a chest of drawers beneath it and get rid of one of the robes. Then you'd have drawers and hanging space for your guests, but the ensuite would be much more spacious. If you're after skylight info, try http://www.velux.com.au for ideas. Re: Guest bedroom ensuite questions 25May 06, 2011 10:14 am It looks like a solid wall at the bottom of the picture (no window?) if so, why don't you have a wardrobe (600mm would be deep enough) with sliding doors across the whole of the wall? I haven't started planning the front facade so not sure what type of window I'm going to get there yet. I'll keep your suggestions in mind. Re skylight: Thanks for the link. Those are amazing. That will give you loads of room for the ensuite. I'm in planning stages but there's definitely going be a window there. The window size will depend on the front facade which I have no clue at this stage.
