Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 09, 2020 3:12 pm My current laundry is a mess. It is VERY Small. I am adding more overhead cupboards, a countertop and new splashback. Currently I only have a laundry tub and the washer/dryer on top of each other which I hate. I can only fit a 200mm cupboard next to my washer/dryer, which will be next to each other on the floor with a counter over the entire area. Which means that is all the room I have for a sink. I have looked all over and can't find a small sink that will fit into the 200mm cabinet. So I am thinking of a countertop sink. Will this be stupid? I don't want it to look silly. Honestly I don't really even use the sink in the laundry, I have lived in my house for just over 5 years and maybe turned the tap on twice. It's more about it looking extremely out of place. I've done some google searching but haven't come up with any pictures of countertop sinks in Laundries. Re: Countertop Sink in a Laundry? 3Aug 09, 2020 6:37 pm Wendlle. From what I'm reading it sounds like you only have around a 1500 wide laundry. So by the time you put the washer and dryer next to each other you only have 200mm left. Is that right? If that's the case you are better off making the washer and dryer a stack. You'll still get a 700-800 bench and then install a slimline laundry trough. Put over heads above the bench and have storage above the washer/dryer stack. But I see it is undermount, mine needs to be on top as it is a laminate benchtop
My issue with stacking is that my washer & dryer aren't a "pair" so they don't fit well on top of each other, I would rather them both on the bottom. My laundry is a bit bigger than 1500 but I already have a large built in pantry. I have 200mm of space allowing for an end panel between the cupboard and the appliances. I work at Mitre 10 so will be using Hafele Kitchens for the cabinets/benchtops as I get a good deal. Just need to find a sink that fits, or go a countertop one in a small size like the one pictured Re: Countertop Sink in a Laundry? 6Aug 09, 2020 7:03 pm That sink can be top mount. Where is the waste for the sink? If it comes up through the slab you may not have space. And oh yes upon reading the description I see it can be inset as well as undermount. Re: Countertop Sink in a Laundry? 8Aug 10, 2020 8:11 pm wendlle My current laundry is a mess. It is VERY Small. We never needed a big laundry tub and loved the extra space we got from changing it to a small kitchen sink style. We made the tap a pull out one which made it easy if you ever needed to fill up a bucket on the ground. The rectangle 200mm sink above will be fine for what I need and it is going to give me so much room in my laundry. I'm so excited. Have had stone benches with undermount sink (kitchen) and drop-in (laundry) and top-mounted basin (bathrooms) for coming up 13 years and not one chip/scratch of any kind.… 2 9680 Agreed.
