Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 05, 2011 10:06 am Hi, Im currently planning a bathroom reno and was wondering if anyone here had some suggestions on companies to use... Ive done plenty of DIY work before, doing the the majority of a kitchen strip down and fit-out, but with a baby on the way the bathroom deadline isnt as relaxed I need to strip out the asbestos wall sheets, put in a sliding door in an existing wall, move some water plumbing marginally, re-sheet, tile etc... So, if anyone has some positive experiences with workers in the newcastle area that would be most helpful, as finding 'opinions' on the many names in the yellowpages isnt really possible.. Thanks Re: Bathroom Renovator Suggestions - Newcastle 2Apr 05, 2011 12:00 pm We had a new bathroom put in 4yrs ago by a great guy Troy Smith. Was a dynamo at stripping down a bathroom to bare joists and redoing. Same reason here - I was 8mths pregnant and we needed it done quickly. He was from Charlestown from memory although was building a home out at Cameron Park. I will try and find his number for you. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Bathroom Renovator Suggestions - Newcastle 3Apr 06, 2011 9:29 am That would be great... Any other suggestions? A couple i have called have seemed 'not interested' in the work... Perhaps because I am mentioning that I have done the planning and know the components etc and they only want the higher $ jobs..... Re: Bathroom Renovator Suggestions - Newcastle 5Apr 10, 2011 10:25 am If you know a real estate agent or a buyer's agent in your area they are often quite cluey as to who does pretty good work for small jobs so perhaps you could try that route. Re: Bathroom Renovator Suggestions - Newcastle 6Apr 10, 2011 1:30 pm I may have a recommendation for you in a week or so! We've been really happy so far with the builder who's currently doing our small bathroom reno. I wouldn't recommend until I see the finished product but so far so good (and VERY reasonably priced too). Asbestos removal, plumbing, waterproofing, electrical, tiling etc all covered. Does it all I think! Re: Bathroom Renovator Suggestions - Newcastle 7Apr 10, 2011 2:59 pm georgiecat, that sounds like the entire list of things i need doing, including the asbestos part.. any details you could forward on would be great.....what kind of $'s was your job if you dont mind me asking... Thanks Re: Bathroom Renovator Suggestions - Newcastle 9Apr 18, 2011 1:47 pm Its slowed down a bit SBOB but it still seems to be on track. Waterproofing being done today (I hope!) and from there its just the tiling etc which needs to be done. It's now been about 10 days they've been working on it so we are hoping they complete in the timeframe (15 work days) as we'd like to get back home before easter! I'll let you know how it all went when its completed. Bathroom Renovator Suggestions - Newcastle 10Dec 05, 2011 10:55 am I'm also looking for a good suggestion for a complete bathroom renovation, top to bottom. I see this thread dried but I'm hoping some people can give some more ideas and numbers.
