Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Apr 05, 2011 4:23 am Hello, we are thinking of how to design out bedroom, and we have some options: 1. Left bathroom, middle bedroom, right walk-in closet 2. Left bathroom, middle walk-in closet, right bedroom above are in simple words what is the main thought. However a lot of people are saying that the closet should not be near the bathroom as a lot of steam would come out and would be nice for the steam to go into the closet. However on the other side, we like the idea that coming out of the bathroom is the closet where you are going to put on clothes, and also the fact that bathroom would be remotely and away (for noise) from the bed... Any thoughts based on anyone's experience, in order to help us for the above? Thanks a million! Re: Walk in closet and bathroom 2Apr 05, 2011 5:42 am we have a door into our bathroom and then in the bathroom a door into the walk in wardrobe. I LOVE IT just shut the door while you shower into your wir if you are worried . We do have a vent in the wir that is linked to the soffit outside...open all the time. it is in the corner ceiling of the room, you cant see it, but that keeps fresh airflow coming and going. it also means we dont have 2 doors in our master bed, and I have pictures up where the wir door would have been. I like it cos I can go from the shower into wir get dressed (I even have an iron and board in there) and never go back into the master till I am looking my absolute gorgeousness. There is no door between the WIR and Bedroom, but we're having a full height curtain/drape that just hangs over the door way and you walk through to stop the light coming through when one of us is still sleeping and the other is getting up for work. The WIR to bathroom is a cavity slide door. Re: Walk in closet and bathroom 5Apr 05, 2011 10:00 am I'm another fan of having the bathroom and wardrobe close together - it would drive me nuts to have to walk around the bed from one to the other 50 million times a day. Ideally, I would like to be able to move around from the bathroom to wardrobe naked without being seen from the rest of the house while the bedroom door was open. Couldn't quite get that with our house plans but to me that would be a big bonus. LOVE IT! naked tuesday has never been more fun mmm.... am i in the right forum? OK, yes, no XXX and +18... So we are feeling right, that bathroom should be next to wardrobe, as it is much more comfortable. I'm a bit worried that our architect insists that this should not be done this way. I am worried about the way he is thinking about it. On some aspects he seems that he doesnt want to change his initial thoughts. Re: Walk in closet and bathroom 11Apr 05, 2011 4:30 pm I think this concern of having a bathroom next to a WIR, is over the top IMO. UNLESS you don't have a bathroom door I repeat, we have never had steam/moisture issues in our robe & we've been living in the house for nearly 2 years. Our bathroom door plus exhaust fan work very effectively to remove any moisture. From past experience of our build, I can tell you that it's very easy to fall into the trap of 'overthinking' something . If there is anything that i am skeptical about now, then definitely will change it, as I want to be 100% sure for all the places of the house.
