Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Dec 29, 2007 10:20 am Hi all,
My parents are now talking about doing a re-fit of their bathroom to include a glass splashback in the shower, and re-doing the wall tiles over and around the bath and across the top of the vanity. My parents' house (which I have talked of before) is 25 years old, and had no major renovations done to it. The floor tiles are right throughout the home so will not be changed. They are a 300x300 square ceramic tile with a brownish swirl/stone look. The area to be tiled is not large (above the bath, the front and side of the bath and between the bench and mirror) and I think the really big (HUGE) tiles on the wall will look very odd with small (normal size) tiles on the floor. She is also looking at a possible cream marbled look tile to match the $400 laminex vanity they put in 5 years ago - and to top it off their walls are a mid olive green. I personally think this will look revolting, but she doesn't listen to me, so maybe I could get some feedback from others (Michelle?) as to whether you think her taste is wayyyyyy off. I've tried googling bathroom tile pics and came up with a few but I'm finding it hard to find really big tiles on the walls and normal size on the floor to show her how it will look. Thanks, Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: Floor tile and wall tile sizes? 3Dec 29, 2007 11:23 am I see where you maybe concerned, but what you have in your head Ray is the modern look we are now all going with.
I personally think a 600 x 600 is a good look!!! And don’t be fooled, some very expensive homes are doing this now. So this could be the new look down the track. Your mum……maybe setting a trend before it actually gets here. But tell her white…..not the colour on her floors. 600 x 600 as a feature wall. I really like the top pic - the size and the tones. My only reservation with the size is that they are 4 times the size of the floor tiles... and she wants cream marble look - which then introduces grey tones in the swirls. She won't have white, as her bath and basins are "ivory" although the bath is nearly peach coloured and she said she doesn't want to replace it (after 25 years ). I'll try and get a pic on Monday when we park in front of their air-con. Ray. That way they will go with the bath, I agree the marble may look really over patterned in the room. Peach bath and marble wall tiles….I feel will look nasty. It looks close to what I'm thinking for the ensuite. I got this photo off the net……..but these tiles or similar in appearance should be easy to find. I know my tile supplier has at least 3 types out there like those in the picture. IT’S WALL PAPER OR VINYL!!!! But it was a good representation of a 600 x 600 tile.
