Re: IXL TASTICS - do they self seal 4Mar 26, 2011 8:26 am There is a model that does and one that doesn't. the model that does is more expensive. This was the model we bought. They had "Eco" at the beginning of the model name. Just make sure that if you have your builder install them they put the seals in. We discovered the sealing flaps from ours in the waste bin on the house building site. TG we went up almost daily to the house. We were able to contact our S.S and he got the sparkie to return and install them. ( his comment was, oh i've never have had to bother b4. Though why would someone buy the more expensive version and not want the seals installed?) Re: IXL TASTICS - do they self seal 6Mar 27, 2011 5:31 pm lastone Does anyone know if the exhaust self seals in IXL tastics? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=IXL+TASTICS+sealing HTH, P_D . I think my flaps haven't been put on as when I look up I can see right throught to the roof (its only about 45cm above the ceiling). I specifically got this one because my main bathroom doesn't have it and it drives me nuts. There is so much crap in my bath from falling through it. I am getting a draftstoppa put on this one. My builder is back tomorrow so will check with him! Re: IXL TASTICS - do they self seal 8Mar 28, 2011 8:25 pm Check kexkez .... discovered the sealing flaps from ours in the waste bin on the house building site. .... Just a question, do you have sarking (Anticon) in your ceiling ?? See you @ the LED-THREAD !!! Cheers, P_D . I'm in SA, and I see you're in Vic, so this information may be NSW (it's from their BASIX website) specific, or they may of taken it from the Australian Building Code, I honestly don't know. I recalled seeing it a couple of weeks ago, and it was one of those things that I thought I'll file in the backof my mind, it might come in useful one day !!! Am way out of my knowledge base now LOL. I know he went and bought some metal thingy and cut a hole in my roof. I can see right up to the metal thingy if I look up the 3 in 1. I can't see this section of roof from the outside of my house so I have no idea what he actually did?? Luckily we discovered them in time. They are noisy though. The flaps vibrate/rattle when the ceiling fans are on. At least the one in our ensuite certainly is. I haven't showered in the main bathroom so I'm not sure if it's as bad. We have the big 4 light versions. Extra tip keep any receipts. One of ours has stopped working ( the fan bit) they have a 5 year warranty. We are currently waiting for it to be fixed/replaced under warranty. DH is dealing with this so I'm not sure where we are in the process. Re: IXL TASTICS - do they self seal 14Mar 29, 2011 12:16 am kexkez I was furious when we discovered ours in the skip. Doesn't sound right about them making a rattling noise, first thing that comes to mind is when the builder put the flaps back on he somehow installed them wrong or something got broken in the skip or maybe a part is missing like a spring or something.... But since you're lucky enuff that the fan isn't working, the service-dude should be able to tell you is the noise is "normal" while he is there, and if not then fix it Cheers, P_D . Cheers, P_D Hmmm thats interesting I have sarking (i`m in NSW) and i queried my builder on whether they are ducting my ensuite IXL to the atmosphere and they replied with a no,it just goes into the roof cavity. So i thought well i`ll just do it my self after i move in(i`m only 3 weeks away from handover) So this now raises a good issue. You`ll have to find out the details and PM me or link me the info on ducting with sarking pepsi drinker Re: IXL TASTICS - do they self seal 17Mar 29, 2011 1:29 pm Great thread - have added to my list of "things to check" For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: IXL TASTICS - do they self seal 18Mar 29, 2011 8:18 pm donnam Well they didn't install the one I asked for but apparently the flaps are a non issue as mine is vented out the roof. Hope that is right- who knows what they say! Where it's vented has nothing to do with the flaps. the flaps are to stop the loss of warm air when the fans aren't on but the heating lamps are( winter)and to stop cold air coming in. Whether the fan is vented to outside or not doesn't matter. Re: IXL TASTICS - do they self seal 20Mar 29, 2011 9:16 pm Pepsi_Drinker kexkez I was furious when we discovered ours in the skip. We had a couple of issues with a few minor bits of his work. We've always wondered if he actually did it properly. or if he had actually damaged something or mislaid a part. Not sure how the service dude if one exists will deal with the issue. Depends. If they find it's a fault with the fan then it will get replaced but if it's a fault of the sparkies wiring then they won't. could get tricky. i hate to think they might replace the fan and we'll have to pay for it to be reinstalled. not a cheap prospect down here to find a sparkie to do the job.
