Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 21, 2011 2:07 pm Hubbie and I are coming to the end of doing a big extension whilst also renovating the older parts of the house. Our house is approx 70 years old so we are going for a modern cottage look I guess you could call it i.e floorboards, weathertex on the exterior etc etc. Just a bit of background on the bathroom: Our new bathroom will be grey floor tiles and white square wall tiles in a brickwork pattern (both are 150x150). The wall tiles will only be tiled halfway up the wall and the remainder of the wall above the tiles will be painted in a light grey. Fittings will be stainless steel (taps, towel heater, toilet holder etc). I'm having trouble deciding what type of taps/shower head etc to use in our bathroom which we are about to start in the coming weeks. Has anyone recently completed a bathroom in their modern cottage house? Where abouts did you get your taps from? I'd love to see some pictures if you have any... Re: Bathroom tapware for an older style/cottage house 3Mar 21, 2011 6:59 pm We have a 1930s sort of Californian bungalow so like you, I wanted something more "old style". We've just put in a new ensuite, powder room and are about to rip out the old bathroom - tomorrow in fact-and have used Brodware taps. They are made in Australia with ceramic discs, etc so they are excellent quality. http://www.brodware.com.au The Neu England range is "cottagey" - I love these: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I chose these for the bathroom and the powder room: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Shower in bathroom: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Shower head in ensuite with this mixer: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And we have a freestanding bath so I splurged and got this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Bathroom tapware for an older style/cottage house 4Mar 21, 2011 7:06 pm I probably should have added, they are not for the budget conscious however if you shop around, you should be able to get a fair discount, that is, if you like them. ![]() Re: Bathroom tapware for an older style/cottage house 5Mar 22, 2011 1:14 pm They have some lovely taps don't they!!! Definatley be looking into those ones. You don't know off the top of your head how much they might be (approx $$$). I might have a look at Recolections as well - I love their stuff!! Re: Bathroom tapware for an older style/cottage house 6Mar 25, 2011 10:44 am I paid $450 for the basin set in the powder room. While they are not cheap, they are extremely well made (ceramic disc, etc.) and done so in Australia. We plan to be in this home for 15 years so felt spending the $ was the right thing to do. Recollections has some lovely designs and their PC goods are cheap but it is all made in China so you have to be careful about quality. I note you are in Eastwood. I went to Plumbers co-op in Rowe Street and because they have had an increase in demand for Brodware, their RRP prices are discounted. I dealt with Costa and he was great. They do not have a display of Brodware but Cass Bros at Leichardt does. It is worth the drive to have a look but avoid going there on a Saturday unless super early. My advice is to get a quote from each of them - I did get ours from Eastwood ![]() Good day everyone, I have two queries regarding stacked stone style facade feature tile installation. 1.
