Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anybody has a vanity basin with an offset mixer taps, for example a tap that isn't centred behind the basin but rather is installed to the left or right of the basin?
I ask because at our colour selections we were given the builder's standard range of basins to choose from. After choosing the basin (a round one which sits semi-recessed into the top of the vanity), we were told that we needed to use a specific type of tap for it that wouldn't splash water all over the place. So we chose this tap and now 6 months down the track our builder has now told us that the taps won't fit behind the basin, and need to be installed to the side and behind of the basin rather than centred behind the basin.
When we complained about this they said that everybody with semi-recessed basins now install the taps to the side rather than centred behind, and that if we wanted it centred behind we were meant to bring that up at the colour selection. Our argument is that's the regular place for it anyway, and we were never given reason to believe otherwise.
We'd be happy to choose a different tap/basin/vanity - anything to have the tap centred, but the builder now won't budge on this and we're a couple weeks before handover. Has anybody encountered a similar problem to this before, and is it really that common to have the tap installed to the left or right of the basin these days? We're disgusted at the builder's refusal to even try to figure out a solution with us.
Thanks for the help.
