Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 14, 2011 8:40 am If you had the space, would you ever consider a mini wall hung clothes line in the laundry? I am thinking this would be handy for small items like socks etc as well as delicate items. What do you think? Would you ever have a wall hung clothes line in the laundry? 2Mar 14, 2011 8:44 am Yep we have a massive laundry and I was just in HSW looking at some last week. The ones I would get were all around the $200 mark. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Would you ever have a wall hung clothes line in the laun 4Mar 14, 2011 10:03 am I wouldnt get one myself - mainly because there is no need, my clothesline are easily accesible and doesnt rain that much here anyway. I have a tumbledryer for occasional 'emergencies' - also a folding clothes horse which I sometimes use in winter, either inside or under the pergola. - cost under $20. You can also get those round hanging thingo's from cheap shops for a few dollars (sorry, dont know what they are actually called) - they are quite good for drying a few small things inside. My laundry is quite long and I have 4 banks of double door, roof-to-floor shelves. My drying closet has 3 levels, the top one I can hang **** and tops, the bottom 2 levels have 2 rods each. Its been fantastic whilst the outside is a muddy slosh and I still dont have a clothes line. Re: Would you ever have a wall hung clothes line in the laun 10Mar 14, 2011 12:19 pm Had one in my last laundry and it was fantastic. It is great to have for things that can't go in the dryer or out in the sun, and when it rains for months on end like it is ATM here in FNQ. OTOH we don't have one in our rental here and I use the airers on wheels. They are handy because you can put them directly under a fan to dry your clothes quicker. Re: Would you ever have a wall hung clothes line in the laun 11Mar 14, 2011 12:29 pm Oh wow. Artweger Airer Ruckzuck 80cm Looks very cute Re: Would you ever have a wall hung clothes line in the laun 12Mar 14, 2011 12:37 pm I'd probably get one of those little ones that retract in and out like they use in apartments. Good idea Re: Would you ever have a wall hung clothes line in the laun 14Mar 15, 2011 8:24 pm i have the leifheit foldaway one in that picture. I got it in germany and it is just super duper awesome! I have had a rail built in my laundry for hanging shirts and i will get continue to use my one above for outsied. I LOVE IT!!! Re: Would you ever have a wall hung clothes line in the laun 15Mar 16, 2011 11:00 am I probably wouldn't get a wall hung clothes line in the laundry. Ours is sizable (lots of storage), but there isn't a heating vent in there, so I prefer to put the clothes on clothes horses and sit them under the vents in Winter in the spare room or out of the way in the dining room. I can also easily carry them outside on the deck to catch some afternoon sun (if it isn't raining) and if I haven't already put them on the clothesline. Mum used to have an inside line in the laundry and she'd hang her delicates/handwashing/stockings on it. I don't wear stockings and I don't do any handwashing so everything gets thrown in the machine and usually hung on the outside line...unless it's raining, then it's clothes horses and deck. Our dog, a labradoodle, just loves my Husbands clothes. He only ever ripped his off the line and put them in the kennel. So now we never hang anything on the line, always on the clothes horse. Then air in the dryer. It would be great to have a line in the laundry, our home is not finished yet, so thanks for the idea. Re: Would you ever have a wall hung clothes line in the laun 17Mar 16, 2011 12:50 pm We have one now, it's brilliant, and I have it in the plans for the house we're building now. The new laundry was designed around this and will have a double cupboard with bifold doors which will open and then have a lift up and click in place line. I have a heating vent placed directly over where the line will be. When I wash I put all things that can go on a hanger straight onto them and dry them hanging on hangers - work shirts, dressees, jeans on clippy hangers, that sort of thing. T'shirts go over a clothes horse because they get the hanger stretching the shoulders. If we do have a nice day then they can go outside where we'll have another fold down line at the side of the house but I'd say about 70% of the time we dry stuff inside. Don't hesitate - this is a really great idea!! Especially if you live in Melbourne!! I actually have a built in robe in the laundry (shelf and rail) and the plan is to hang clothes that "aren't quite dry" in this space on clothes hangers. At this stage I would probably just have a clothes horse/ clothes airer that I could have either in the laundry or just outside the laundry. Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
