Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 04, 2011 2:32 pm Hi folks, how are we? My partner and I are butting heads due to colour selections in our bathroom/ensuite. We've selected all our plumbing fixtures, basins etc, and we're going for a square/modern look which we want to acompany with greys and whites. One of us (the woman... ) wants to have a white bench top, with a fairly dark grey cupboards (see http://laminex.com.au/colour-palette.php#/colour_palette/jordan_stone ) Then have a relatively light grey floor tile (see http://www.guocera.com/pdf/Enviro%20+.pdf if you have the patience. its the light grey tile used on the first page, as well as the first one you see on page 4, except in 200x200) Then have a dark stone mosaic running between the vanity top, and the mirror, as well as have it cut into 200 wide strip run vertically down the shower wall, seperating our double shower into 2 halves. My only concern is the floor tile. I feel its too light. If you go darker, then it will look shiet against the cupboards. And having white cupboards, and dark top would mean the stone wouldn't look as good between the mirror and the vanity. Am I being stupid? is the floor tile a fine colour / not too light? 1 word answer is fine... Re: Colour Balance in Bathrooms 2Mar 07, 2011 1:14 am i like the lighter grey for floors but really depends on size of your bathroom when using darker shades if its a big bathroom you can get away with darker shades but if its small try to use lighter shades with dark shades as a feature.ok i just reread what i wrote and confused myself lol basically big rooms handle darker colors better then smaller rooms but if you want a darker color in a smaller room use it sparingly. stay safe happy building Re: Colour Balance in Bathrooms 4Mar 12, 2011 8:10 am Pinchy Erin is the expert in coordinating grays - her house is all in shades of gray and her bathrooms are spectacular ERIN....where are you? I think your light floor tile is perfect, and I LOVE your laminex in the Jordan Stone! Wish we'd gone a little more grey... Here's our ensuite, we've used a 506mm x 506mm floor tile throughout most of the house. It's called Nairobi Cloud... or something like that It's probably a fraction darker than your tile, but there's not a huge difference in them. Our bench top is CS Cracked Pepper, and the laminex is Fossil. Our wall tiles are Venus Olive, and perhaps a little more brown than we were planning... Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3618 Hi - thanks for your reply.
