Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 24, 2011 9:57 pm For our ensuite, we are looking at a double bath; as some posters have kindly pointed out, it is better to have the spout for that in the centre of the bath, rather than at the ends. My problem is I would also like a hand shower, and have in fact got this one, but I feel that would be better placed at the end wall, as the bath is next to a large window. Has anyone done a setup with the shower, tap and diverter on the end wall, connecting to the spout in the middle of the bath, ie some distance away, and does it work well? Of are there reasons not to do this, and I'd be better off having the shower towards one end, but the spout, diverter and tap in the middle of the bath (which either means a long connection within the wall, or the hose hanging a long way)? Re: Bath spout distant from tap 2Feb 25, 2011 8:50 am We have the bath spout and mixer together but in both our showers we have the mixers remote from the shower heads - means we can turn the shower on and get the temp right without getting wet. With the flexible piping they use now it is really easy to put your plumbing where you want it. With a central bath spout I would definitely want the taps/mixer and handshower at the end where it can be accessed without leaning across the bath. My parents have both the bath spout and taps on the long side of the bath and it is a killer for your back every time you run the bath for the kids or when you want to clean the bath. We don't have that problem with temperature, as we have a continuous flow gas heater. kb46 With a central bath spout I would definitely want the taps/mixer and handshower at the end where it can be accessed without leaning across the bath. Excellent point; never considered that part at all. Looks like I'll site the mixer and diverter at the end wall with the shower, and have the spout in the middle. I guess if I site it high enough, it will be out of head level when ****** in the bath. Re: Bath spout distant from tap 4Mar 02, 2011 7:28 am We'e putting our bath spout at the end but on the long side as there is a window on the long side along most of the bath. The mixer will be at the end on the other side of the bath so a person can sit either end of the bath. Useful for bathing the kiddies. Re: Bath spout distant from tap 5Mar 02, 2011 9:42 am I built with a volume builder and it is standard (for them) to have the mixer on the "short" end of the bath and the tap/outlet in the middle of the "long" side (which in my case happens to be under a window). It looks fine and is easy to use; I haven't had any problems with hitting myself against the tap or mixer when I am in the bath.
