Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 24, 2011 2:48 pm What kind of a basin/sink do you have and how high is your vanity benchtop? I've been told that 900mm is the norm but would love to hear your opinions. Re: How high is your vanity? 3Feb 25, 2011 7:29 am I think you'll find that for Bathroom bench height 800mm is the standard. 900mm is Kitchen and laundry standard. Also as a side note Vanity depth is usually 500mm and 600mm kitchen and laundry. I would have like to have 900mm vanity but it would be awkward for the GLW. She gets a sore back standing at kitchen for too long. Re: How high is your vanity? 4Feb 25, 2011 12:39 pm I recently bought a vanity on a kickboard with a ceramic top and integrated basin. It's 87cm high. The Bathroom Warehouse website has the specs for vanities that seem to sit anywhere between 80-90cm (from the quick look I've had). This might sound like a silly question, but is she too short or too tall for a 900mm vanity? Re: How high is your vanity? 6Feb 25, 2011 6:29 pm The vanity that I currently use is 900mm in height which is fine. (BTW I am quite short @158cm.) She says she gets some back pain if working the kitchen bench for too long at once. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad in the bathroom, but it shouldn't too bad for me. We had 800mm in the last place and it was only really awkward when having to lean down to the spout. had to step back then lean over for my back to have the right curve that didn't hurt much. I don't usually have back problems, but when washing dishes I used to spread my feet out way out side the line of my shoulders to lower my self and not have to bend a lot. I got stuck once as my back spasm'd when leaning over the sink. Not good when every phone is at least 5mt away Re: How high is your vanity? 8Feb 28, 2011 10:01 am My wife is quite short (4 foot 11) and we ended up getting some rubber Anti-fatigue mats from Clark Rubber for the kitchen which she says has helped her back enormously. They did have them at Aldi's some time ago a bit cheaper but they are def worth looking into. Re: How high is your vanity? 9Feb 28, 2011 10:06 am My bathroom vanities were made shorter because we have above counter sinks. The height to the top of the sink is 900, but the actual vanities are 668 (according to the plans) They did this so that the sinks don't end up to high for kids (or me as I'm a shorty!) My laundry is 900 high, and my kitchen bench is actually 943 and is perfect... not having to bend over in the sink and a great height for preparing Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
