Okay, I know I definitely don't want tiles in the bathroom or ensuite. I am thinking of having polished concrete.... has anyone done this in the wet areas? and also what could we use instead of tiles on the walls in the shower area/backsplash behind basin etc... well normally where you have tiles what could we have? Any pictures would be fantastic as well!

You could use glass, like a kitchen splashback. Or there are polymarble type shower bases that come up the wall of the shower.
Pics of glass here.... http://www.creativeshowerscreens.com.au ... _walls.php
I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
