You may also find phos acid in a tile shop near you aswell any problems finding it let me know I can send some down to you. Have you tried magic cook top glass cleaner for glass stoves. We use it for hard water stains on shower glass and tiles test first on a spare tile if you have one remember to always pre wet surfaces before applying anything. I will re post what he thinks as I feel your shower floor was not installed correctly due to a number of things we can see in your pic. 1. Tiles are to large which restricts water to flow into grout than to the drain. 2. Tiles have been cut around the drain to help water drain this is really not needed as the bedding under the tiles should have been pre sloped to the drain and smaller tiles used. Don`t worry we see this everyday and this is why we pass it onto a shower pan specialists who can advise you on what to do. It really is a problem if it doesn't get resolved. Can you imagine what this will look like in a year ? He also agreed with me about the installation as when tilers or builders cut tiles like that to drain water into the drain. This proves the bedding was not sceened to allow water to flow on its own and the wrong size tille was used. We see this a lot 1 out of 3 showers we get calls on are faulty installs due to builders cutting corners and doing it themselves instead of hiring a professional who know how to build a shower pan. What amazes us is that there is so much info on the internet and at bunnings about how to install a shower pan correctly In Queensland they do not get away with it thanks to the BSA who makes them re build the shower floor or there licence will be cancelled. They have to get a professional out first to prove it. Re: Removing soap scum build-up 70Mar 18, 2011 12:15 pm Hey all.........I'm back with NO solution to the problem DH refused to try acid on the marks. He didn't htink it'd make any difference. So the tiles stay as is, unless someone comes up with a miracle suggestion OR we get teh shower base re-tiled. Like that'll happen any time soon - Not!!! GP, could I have caused the problem by my varied attempts at cleaning the tiles ? Commercial tile cleaner, CLR, scourer, AJAX, etc............not necessarily in that order ??? Re: Removing soap scum build-up 75Mar 24, 2011 4:31 pm lol just emailed mum and this is what she came back with: "its bucket of hot water with one cup of mentholated spirtits and scrub like mad and it brings up the tiles lovely." hahaha Harrisdale backyard finally done! Re: Removing soap scum build-up 77Mar 31, 2011 3:47 pm southies how did you go? found something to clean it with yet? Harrisdale backyard finally done! Re: Removing soap scum build-up 78Mar 31, 2011 3:56 pm No luck MissPP The marks/stains are still there. I'm sooooo over this htat I don't give a hoot anymore. When I've had enough of the stains staring me in the face every day, I'll get my DH to rip up the tiles & replace the whole lot Better still, when the time comes I'll get a tiler to take a look at the fall & see if he can do anything about it before re-tiling. Seriously disappointed with this ! A brand new house, too! I think mine are hard water marks and will definitely be trying some of these tips So glad I found this thread 6 9173 The best advice is for you to get a competent building consultant to guide you through your build 7 3786 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 2249 |
