Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 10, 2011 3:27 pm Hi everyone We have picked this tile for our feature tile in our ensuite. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This tile will be in the shower niche and also in the niche over the bath. We are most likely having white floor the ceiling wall tiles. Any ideas of what colour to do the floor tile??? Also was thinking of doing another tile up the back of the shower wall where the niche is to add a bit of interest. Any ideas?? Playing with the idea of tiling around the entire bath with this tile too. What do you think? Thanks for your help!!! PS. Our house colour scheme so far has been very neutral, so we don't want bold colours. If so what about a dark charcoal metallic tile for the floor? I don't think I would introduce another tile. I prefer there to be one focal tile - to have two would have them competing. But you have to live in the house so choose what you love. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: TILE COLOUR SCHEME - PLEASE HELP! 3Feb 10, 2011 3:37 pm kyton Lovely tile - it looks metallic? Hi Kyton It's a glass tile which sort of has glitter in some of tiles, so some tiles sparkle and some are just plain/frosted looking. i love it! Yeah i think charcoal would be good too. What do you think about a sandy/latte colour for a more subtle look? or do you think it would look better more contrasting? thanks heaps The Asquith (modified) Deposit:6/2010 Council:12/2010 Contract Signed:15/2/2011 Site Prep:17/3 Slab:11/5 Frame:23/5 Bricks:11/7 Roof:18/7 Gyprock:3/8 Kitchen:6/8 Painting:10/10 KEYS!!: 10/11/11 Re: TILE COLOUR SCHEME - PLEASE HELP! 4Feb 10, 2011 3:45 pm yeah I was even going to say just white on the floor, it's very common atm... just a thought. I think you would need to sit the tile next to a couple of floor tiles and see which one makes it POP. AT - no way could I ever have white floor tiles LOL DH has the darkest hair and it shows up bad enough on our latte tiles. White would drive me nutty!! Some things are worth waiting for. Re: TILE COLOUR SCHEME - PLEASE HELP! 6Feb 10, 2011 9:24 pm First post ever and I can't leave this thread without saying... LOVE THOSE TILES!!! What about a grey floor tile with a 'glitter' in it? What are they called (your feature tile I mean)? I think a charcoal or dark silvery grey would look nice. instead of introducing another tile for a wall you could continue whichever floor tiles you choose up the wall of the shower? I think those tiles would look lovely over the bath hob too, though I also love the look of the floor tiles over the bath... Re: TILE COLOUR SCHEME - PLEASE HELP! 8Feb 11, 2011 8:19 am Dark grey for the floor seems an obvious choice based on the pic. But if the tiles have some beige/sand in them this would also work well. In fact, I would probably prefer it. It will give a light, breezy look. The thing to check is the tone of the floor tiles with your mosaics and in the bathroom lighting. The mosaics are cool-toned and you can actually get cool/neutral beige type colours. be careful of anything that throws too pink or yellow in the room. Oh, and I agree to definitely stick to one feature tile or there's too much going on. I quite like the mosaic feature on the bathtub, too - but partly depends on the layout of the bathroom. I'm renovating - building a small extension at the back of the late Edwardian house. This is the first stage. Second stage of the renovation will be to replace roof on… 0 1089 Looking for advice on whether this variation in tile colour is acceptable. The large tile on the left was used in my main bathroom renovation 1 year ago.
