Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Ensuite completely open to bedroom? 21Feb 08, 2011 8:42 pm We don't have a door on ours. Our WIR's are in front of the ensuite and you walk through those to the ensuite which has a fairly wide door way. The toilet has it's own door though as I can't stand toilets that don't. We have never had an issue with noise. TBH, we had a door on our last ensuite and I can't tell any difference noise wise as the door didn't really cut out a lot of noise. Re: Ensuite completely open to bedroom? 22Feb 08, 2011 8:46 pm just Erin We have a very wide opening in ours, love it. Wouldn't change it. The toilet has it's own door though, I would NOT have the toilet open in the ensuite. Neither of us showers when the other is in bed, so not an issue. ditto, although I do have decorative shutters on the opening... I think this one is personal taste (although it seems to be the general consensus that loos' need a door! I think if I built again, with kids, I would attempt a door, but let's face it, the kids are only going to open it anyway! It doesn't bother me or my DH tho. A thankful person is a happy person. Bliss Re: Ensuite completely open to bedroom? 24Feb 09, 2011 9:11 am Pinchy kb46 Sliding plantation shutters or shoji screens seem to be the best solution to me atm but I will wait to live in it for a while to decide what we'll do. Lucky DH is already trained to use the other loo! He came that way! He was also pre-trained to put the toilet seat down - very gentlemanly... I'm sure there's some very traumatic events in his deep dark past that made him that way... And don't get me wrong, he's far from perfect, he won't pick up his dirty clothes Re: Ensuite completely open to bedroom? 25Feb 09, 2011 9:17 am Rizzo I just lock my bedroom door, that way I don't have them banging on the bathroom door and I can't hear them... Bliss The perfect solution Re: Ensuite completely open to bedroom? 26Feb 09, 2011 10:05 am Something I regret is not getting a door to either the ensuite or WIR area. Or at least make the opening suitable for adding a door in the future. On my plan you walk in between the WIR's to get to the ensuite so it isn't like the bed is right next to the shower but still if I had my time again I would def put a door on. Hubby is a shift worker and the noise from the shower would wake him with only one door. I would use the iother bathroom, but now the kids are teenagers, it is a mission in itself. We are having a huge, beautiful ensuite and I want to be able to use it. Re: Ensuite completely open to bedroom? 28Feb 10, 2011 6:11 pm We have a cavity slider- Husband is always up earlier than me and I think with having a door he is less likely to wake me up. Also DH doesn't have a lot of pet peeves but ensuites without doors just happen to make it on his albeit short list!
