But would like to know if anyone else has heard this? or, would like to know what you think? Thanks K Re: WDYT? Spend Big on floor tiles and less on wall tiles? 2Feb 05, 2011 4:30 pm Hiya. I think as long as it flows it doesn't matter. But if you were going to have a certain 'spec' on your floor, you would want to carry it through to your wall tiles. The interior designer that i am consulting with just said to consult a tile company properly and not to scrimp if you want top dollar for your house. Tiles are worth every penny. Spend Big on floor tiles and less on wall tiles? 3Feb 05, 2011 4:39 pm This is just a guess, but perhaps they said that because it's easier to replace wall tiles than floor tiles... so if you get really good floor tiles, later down the track if you change things again for any reason, you could just replace the wall tiles and not the floor. I know when I had a plumber doing something in our bathroom, he mentioned that we really should consider re-tiling soon due to the condition of the tiles (this was not news to me, just the cost and time factor means we can't do it yet). Anyway he just meant the walls. When I mentioned we were planning on pulling practically everything out and replacing - while keeping the current layout at some point (when we have the money and time) and how long did he think something like that would take, he was like "including the floor tiles?" At which point, with me answering yes, that upped his time estimate considerably (whereas just re-tiling the walls was considered simple), so based on that I'd think the rational for spending more on floors would be to ensure that they really do last the distance, and possibly allow you to do minor updates in the future without a full renovation. Re: WDYT? Spend Big on floor tiles and less on wall tiles? 4Feb 05, 2011 6:59 pm I think go in between on both floor and wall. Nothing is worse than cheap tiles. They crack easily, they simply dont have the look of a better tile. Cheap looks cheap. As for really expensive tiles, I say yes, but I think you should also go expensive on walls also. at most it will have a short lintel which could be moved up just below the ceiling or even above.
