Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 17, 2011 2:51 am Can somebody please help me by clarifying situation with drainage & size issues for shower floor tiles. Hobless walk in shower with tile inset drain (not grate) shower size 1800 x ~900 in a room size 1800 x 2910. room only houses shower & bath. Have my heart set on 600 x 300. I realise the challenge with larger tiles is to get the drainage slope right so I understand the concern - that said there is an extraordinary amount of conflicting info for present day installation. Some tilers guarantee they can do it, magazines do it, and many tile shop staff claim it's pretty normal these days. My builder doesn't like having edges that aren't machine finished, but if using a vitrified tile, surely the edges can be arised anyways? And surely even a 300x300 is going to require some cuts. (just far less). Any tiling experts out there that can shed some hands on advice regarding this. Re: HELP - Shower Floor Tile Sizes 2Jan 17, 2011 6:45 am Hi Vitrified tiles are not good news in the bathroom let alone in the shower cubicle they can be very slippery when wet. I prefer smaller tiles and textured ones they have better grip and that is very important unless you can spare the money and the pain ending up in hospital. Tiles on the floor 600x300 are good to look but difficult to lay they are good for shower cubicle areas too. How about if it drains to a slot drain such as the Stormtech? We are considering larger tiles mainly because we thought it will be easier to keep clean, and the fall (all to one corner, services around periphery) should make it simpler.
