Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 09, 2011 1:58 pm hello my first post failed, so will try again in summarised format i'm building a new home and am at tile choice for bathrooms. ideally i'd like large tiles 60x60 or 60x30 rectified. 2 issues i require advice on: 1. builder not comfortable with large tiles on shower floor - concerns laying slope for drainage to standard tile inset drain (no grate). i've discussed with many tile shops and understand it's relatively common practice these days to lay large tiles, cuts from drain to each diagonal corner allow slope to be laid etc. How is issue of sharp edges resolved, is this a matter of finding a good tiler? Must edges be sanded or arised? And if sanded, will this affect tile type, ie glazed porcelain v vitrified. which leads to second query 2. i understand vitrified is the bee's knees for durability, chipping etc and clearly would resolve any issues with sanding edges for shower floor. that said, i've found 2 tiles a. vitrified chinese tile or b. glazed italian. Any input appreciated. Cheers Michelle Thank you Splashers. Tomorrow I might check if I can get a few packs of 300x300 in the same tile finish. It may be good to use these could in the shower recesses.
