Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 04, 2011 1:15 pm I have a tiny ensuite and I want to paint just one short wall and a tiny portion of another short wall…the existing paint is a very pale white with a slightly pinkish tinge, which I REALLY do not like, but at least it’s pale so won’t require 20 billion coats to paint over. I was wondering if I could get away with only buying sample pots of paint…cause it’s such a small area…it’s literally the width of a standard toilet and a bit extra on one wall, and then about the width of a single drawer on the other wall…would a sample pot be enough for say, 2 coats? Or even 2 sample pots…$8 each would be cheaper than buying a whole big pot for $40 or whatever they are, eh? I’d still get someone to come in and paint it though, as I need the ceiling done too and this is very uneven, with a gauge hole where someone’s stuck their thumb through, and also peeling paint above the shower head. So I want it prepped and painted properly. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Using sample pots for a whole room (very small)? 3Jan 07, 2011 3:00 pm I agree, I would get a 1L tin too. Re: Using sample pots for a whole room (very small)? 4Jan 07, 2011 3:06 pm According to one place I bought paint from for a feature wall the sample pots are not the same quality as the paint you buy in tins. So it might not be a good idea to pay for a good job with poor paint. Re: Using sample pots for a whole room (very small)? 5Jan 14, 2011 8:36 pm Ah ok. If they're different quality, then cool. I will not buy just samples. I thought a sample pot was around $8 and a 1 litre pot was around $30-$40. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Using sample pots for a whole room (very small)? 6Jan 15, 2011 1:54 pm Wattyl sample pots are 500mL and are the real deal. They're a matt finish though so if you want a sheen in your bathroom still no help. I think they're the only ones who use real paint in their sample size. I agree, it is frustrating having to buy a 1L tin of paint when you need 300mL. Re: Using sample pots for a whole room (very small)? 7Apr 29, 2011 1:21 pm We used the Wattyl sample tin recently with excellent results. It was about $11 for the dark brown we needed (don't ask!) Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. 0 4671 Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room.
