Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jan 02, 2011 10:33 pm What is the recommended shower screen height? Is it normally matched to the height of the door and/or window? Re: How high is your shower screen? 3Jan 03, 2011 9:11 am Do you know how high your shower screens are Kyton? Are they the same as your internal doors? Re: How high is your shower screen? 4Jan 03, 2011 1:30 pm Why not google shower screens? That would give a standard height above the shower hob or the floor if you are going hobless. I know there are generally two standard heights but can't remember what they are. We chose the taller one last time we did a bathroom reno because DH is very tall. With our build I haven't worried and just stuck with the lower height for the screen but just made sure the shower roses go in high. This is what is in our current rental and it looks ok. Actually, I remember a thread about screen height a while back - perhaps do a search of this site first? Re: How high is your shower screen? 5Jan 04, 2011 12:16 pm think mine is 2000 mm and the shower roses is at 1900. would go at least that so that when taller people want to use it they done have to crouch down to use the shower. some builders are at 1900 height as the default, but check your contract. Re: How high is your shower screen? 6Jan 04, 2011 12:37 pm Thanks iduno I'm organising the showerscreens myself so can make them any height I want. But am just wondering if I should match them to the door height (2.1m) or window height (2.4m). Re: How high is your shower screen? 7Jan 04, 2011 2:49 pm 2.4m is quite high - its the standard ceiling height (though most people do 2.55 these days) and would be quite costly. Even the hinges would need to be special for that much weight. Even at 2.1 it would still be impressively high. Standard for most builders is 1.8m so anything beyond that will probably cost you a premium. Re: How high is your shower screen? 8Jan 04, 2011 3:12 pm Thanks for that Sheepdog. Btw, our ceiling height is 2.7m. I thought this was the most common and standard height. Re: How high is your shower screen? 10Jan 10, 2011 11:42 am blueblueblue Thanks for that Sheepdog. Btw, our ceiling height is 2.7m. I thought this was the most common and standard height. 2.7 is 9 foot cielings, generally its an option up but might come standard with some builders these days. M, for example, do 2.55m as standard (according to their inclusions list). 2 - 2.1 sounds like a good height. Re: How high is your shower screen? 11Jan 12, 2011 6:03 pm I understand wanting the top to match the window or door height, but the higher they are the harder it will be to clean to the top. That would be my first consideration, whether you can reach to scrub that high! Your shower screen has failed in the way it is designed to fail with tempered glass. You could replace it with laminated safety glass but make sure it has AS standards logo on it 1 11161 Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive). Would require a mini… 13 39469 It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard. At least they are not weep holes. Are you in a high intensity rainfall region? The regulatory slope is only required… 3 8245 |
