Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Dec 30, 2010 3:44 pm Just wondering if anyone can help with a little plumping dilemma I have. The other day I went to make a little change with the ensuite toilet. We are moving the toilet from here http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy252/w-i-z-a-r-d/01-3.png To here http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy252/w-i-z-a-r-d/02-3.png But here is the problem, the waste point in the ground for the new position is too close to the wall (about 6cm too close). What can be done to fix this, do we have to break the slab and connect one of those bendy pipes (technical name) to bring the hole away from the wall? As you can see from these pictures, the old position for the toilet was in the right place, it meant that the toilet sat a couple of centre meters away from the wall http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy252/w-i-z-a-r-d/bef.jpg The wast point for where we want the toilet is way closer to the wall http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy252/w-i-z-a-r-d/new.jpg I will be talking to our builder when they get back from the Christmas / New Year break as we paid for this point to be put in and specified on numerous occasions that is was going to be for a toilet. Because the point is too close to the wall, are they obligated to fix it, our contract only mentions that a waste point is to be installed, there is no mention that it is for a toilet. Hoping a few of you can help us figure this out. HELP PLEASE 2Dec 30, 2010 4:39 pm First of all, fancy taking his walk-in-robe! I think you'll be fine. For instance the Caroma Caravelle can be installed with the waste 100 to 180 mm from the wall. The Villeroy and Boch Omnia Pro can go from 70 to 230 mm. There's quite a range available with toilets. HELP PLEASE 3Dec 30, 2010 5:50 pm Thanks Casa2, the problem is we are using the original toilet and the outlet from the toilet is 6 cm away from fitting over the hole for the waste point Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Waste point for toilet too close to wall. HELP PLEASE 6Dec 31, 2010 9:41 am I wouldn't panic yet. As previously mentioned you can get offset pan collars that effectively go in to the existing 100mm pipe as provided and would bring your outlet out to somewhere near where you need it.I have seen 40mm and 60mm offset's readily available and you can get 100mm ones but they do normally require some concrete removal to fit (hopefully covered by the pan. I wouldn't panic yet(but i'm an apprentice and we are good at getting ourselves out of the mess we created ! ) Hope this is of some help. Re: Waste point for toilet too close to wall. HELP PLEASE 7Dec 31, 2010 10:20 am Thanks voogan, I think I might go to a plumbing shop and ask them Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Waste point for toilet too close to wall. HELP PLEASE 8Jan 11, 2011 7:48 pm What toilet do you have? I'd say you'll be up for a new loo. Using an offset pan collar will most likely void the warranty on your toilet. It may also not actually fit under your toilet. When you go to the plumbing shop, take measurement from wall to the centre of the outlet with you. You won't have a lot of options, so you really can't get too picky. Otherwise you will have to dig up your concrete to fix the problem. Possumchops Now the proud owner of 3.7acres of Serenity. Solution found 9Jan 28, 2011 12:24 pm Just for anyone who is interested, managed to find a solution to my dilemma. I went to a plumbing store and managed to find an offset that worked http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy252/w-i-z-a-r-d/100_6805.jpg http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy252/w-i-z-a-r-d/100_6806.jpg This is the offset installed in the pipe http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy252/w-i-z-a-r-d/100_6807.jpg http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy252/w-i-z-a-r-d/100_6808.jpg I have had the toilet installed for a couple of weeks now and it works great, had to make a few modifications to the wall (see my build thread), but it’s all worked out great. http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy252/w-i-z-a-r-d/100_6809.jpg The next change to this area is to build a new WIR behind the bed head in the master bedroom, but that’s a while away yet Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Waste point for toilet too close to wall. Solution found 12Feb 01, 2011 7:07 pm Looking at the photo thats a Stylus Venecia? Just know you have voided your warranty by using the offset pan collar. If you ever have an issue with it not flushing properly get a new toilet rather than wearing a call out fee on a service request by the manufacturer. Just so you know. Solution found 14Jul 24, 2011 7:36 am Hi there, I am building and would you believe the offset for my downstairs toilet is only 100 mm. Do you know how far your new offeset is? it looks like your offset adaptor is a 40 mm one. The toilet we are looking at is 140 mm so i guess with an 40 mm colar toilet adaptor that should work? Re: Waste point for toilet too close to wall. Solution found 15Jul 24, 2011 9:09 am Hi tan39, I think the offset is a 60mm, but it was a while ago and I can't remember properly. I know that the pipe was about 40mm to close to the wall. If you go to a plumbing shop and explain to them what your problem is, they will be able to help you out Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Waste point for toilet too close to wall.
