Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 May 04, 2006 11:13 am I am looking at price ranges of some of European companies (vanities, baths, toilets, etc) and I can't believe the price difference compared to Caroma, Dorf, etc. Does anyone think brands like Kohler and others are so much better than AUS brands, and why? Thanks. Re: AUS vs. European bathroom furnishings 2Jun 05, 2006 11:20 pm firstly if you are thinking of importing the european products you have to make sure those products are acceptable to use in australia. Every product has a water mark on it which proves its suitable.
Dorf etc are all quite good quality, they are easy to install and informationa hnd spare parts are easy to obytain where as spare parts for a cistern from the uk may be harder to get and cost more. Also the europrean stuff may also have a substanadard design IE i currently work in london and the cisterns they have here are anti siphon cisterns and they are a right pain on the ***. plus actually flushing the toilet is a bastard! soo user end function may not be as good as local products Re: AUS vs. European bathroom furnishings 3Aug 01, 2006 8:55 pm Hi,
When it comes to tapware and toilets for your home, your decision can be based on design more so than functionality. For example if you prefer a Kohler toilet over a Caroma for example due to its uniqueness, you may pay for it down the road. Some plumbers are not familiar with imported brands. However, some imported brands do not stay in the market as long as Australian branded products, therefore your toilet may be obosolete within a couple of years hence issues with obtaining spare parts. With tapware, different story. Some European tapware for example Hansa tapware, best tapware in the world, you would have no problem in obtaining parts. Just ask your local plumbing supplier to see what parts they keep and can obtain End of the day, Australian products you cant go wrong with spare parts. Your decision Cheers Shane Re: AUS vs. European bathroom furnishings 4Aug 27, 2006 7:42 am Hi,
local is always better if the local stuff is up to date. It can't be said about locally made toilets. Or is there anyone who makes a decent wall mounted toilet suite? I believe this is correct. From the picture you can see the power was put in last so the electrician knew where the water was.
