Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Dec 03, 2007 9:42 am Just wondering if anyone has a clawfoot bath? What are your thoughts on them?
I was thinking of going this way instead of the standard type with tiles around it. Hubby reckons cleaning would be an issue with a clawfoot, with regards to dirt accumulating underneath. The bathroom isn't that huge, but I like my baths! Re: Bathtubs. . . anyone got clawfoot? 2Dec 03, 2007 9:46 am My parents had one, as long as you don't intend on making it into a shower/bath, they are fantastic. Nice and deep and long, the perfect fit. I loved using it, except as a shower. Cleaning underneath and behind it was a major pain in the butt!!! I'd advise against it, Arkraider, unless you're fanatical about "ye olde worlde" interiors.

Re: Bathtubs. . . anyone got clawfoot? 5Dec 03, 2007 10:45 am Yeah, my parents place was of federation design.. We won't be having one in our new place. But the bath we will be getting is long and deep though and no we won't be putting in a spa bathe either. Buy an outdoors one this time around I think... They have become quite big in the past few years.
They are so much easier to install as they do not have to be 'checked' in to the wall and there is no waterproofing or concrete bedding etc. Check out the marbletrend site for some designs Re: Bathtubs. . . anyone got clawfoot? 7Dec 05, 2007 8:44 am Hmm, a freestanding bath, yes I've seen pictures of those - sounds like a good alternative!
The bathroom on the plan is pretty much exactly like the house we live in at the moment - shower right opposite the bathroom door then the bath along the same wall & the vanity on the opposite wall to the bath & shower. I don't think that much of the layout but at least the shower & bath are separate. Something I'll really think about, probably think about it until I give up and just opt for whatever the standard is Re: Bathtubs. . . anyone got clawfoot? 8Dec 24, 2007 8:35 am Yep I've decided, I will be going for the Caroma Tradition Clawfoot if we have to stick with the same manufacturer as "builders standard range" otherwise I will certainlu go for either clawfoot or freestanding style. Hopefully for one it means I can have a longer bath than standard and the other consideration will be kid friendliness so probably nothing too deep!
Hmm, although deep like the one below would mean less water splashed out by the kids:lol: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This looks inviting...
