Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Size of bathrooms 6Nov 15, 2010 5:04 pm kyton Our main ensuite is the only one with a bath so is around the size of a normal bathroom. The kids ensuites only contain toilet, shower and vanity. Guess it depends upon what you call 'normal'. I agree with Housebee 17+sqm is MASSIVE for what I (and from what I have seen in most everyday family homes) would consider to be 'normal'. My 'normal' house has a 1.7x3.1m (~5.5m2) main bathroom containing a bath, shower and a 900mm vanity. The toilet is separate. My ensuite has a corner shower, toilet and 750mm vanity is 1.6x1.7m (~2.7m2). I personally think my ensuite is a tad too small and cramped, with little room for a decent towel rail. In the mornings it is hard to have both the wife and I in there doing our things. I would think if I could make it bigger, even by 0.5m down one side it would feel a whole lot bigger and would be fine, though I do think a 6m2 one like the OP suggested would be just about perfect, maybe verging on being too big. With the main bathroom I think the size is about right. There is plenty of room in there for towel rails, the shower is large and the both about normal. There is no wasted space to be found at all. But guess the bottom line is what is or isn't right for you depends upon your house. Clearly Kyton has a larger than average home so having large bathrooms makes sense. However if your place is smaller then a smaller well designed bathrooms will WORK just as well. Re: Size of bathrooms 7Nov 15, 2010 5:40 pm Main Bath 6.6m2 - includes shower, bath and vanity (toilet is seperate) Ensuite 6.715m2 - includes, double shower, double vanity and toilet (seperated by a door) Re: Size of bathrooms 8Nov 15, 2010 8:29 pm 6mtrs x 2.4 mtrs main bathroom Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Size of bathrooms 10Nov 16, 2010 4:05 pm Main Bathroom - 6.5m2 (bath, shower, vanity, toilet is separate) Ensuite Bathroom - 6.7m2 (double shower, vanity, toilet) I am fairly happy with these sizes as I would rather more living space than huge bathrooms, I think it's a matter of personal preference. I have been living in a house with a 3.5m2 bathroom (sep toilet) and it's horribly cramped. Re: Size of bathrooms 11Nov 16, 2010 8:08 pm Our main bathroom is around 8.4 m2 (vanity, shower (1200 x 900) and bath). Powder room is a weird shape but around 3.5 m2 (nice and big for riding the porcelain bus ) Ensuite is around 9 m2. We have adults using the main bathroom so wanted it a reasonable size but I don't think size is as important as layout and use of space. Make sure there is wall space to hang a towel rail, and good access to the bath for bathing littlies (space for a chair is always handy for this as well, kneeling while they play becames a PITA after a while). I've seen big bathrooms with no wall space to hang towels. A big window is good as well. Heaps of natural light makes the bathroom feel bigger, it's nice to look out the window from the bath (you can have a screened garden outside or something) and light is the enemy of lots of nasties in the bathroom. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Dear Members I have to decide the Facade column size.
