Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Nov 03, 2010 4:40 am Hi, I thought it might be useful to share my projected renovation costs. I'd love to get a comparison what other people are paying for similar appliances and jobs. I'm still in the early stage, have stripped out the bathroom but still has not decided on vanity and shower enclosure... Will post on real costs once it's all done. I would not change anything unless all features and fixtures how signs of wear and tear Perhaps couple of shots will show how much need there is for a reno. Oh, there is plenty of need for a reno! This is original 1950's bathroom Will post some pictures... Re: My projected renovation cost (chart) 5Nov 03, 2010 10:36 am d@n Is the new entry door swinging out instead of in? Both doors are now swinging to the opposite direction (outwards). It cost me $120 to re-hung 2 doors. Sliding doors are nice... but much more expensive. Re: My projected renovation cost (chart) 6Nov 10, 2010 7:10 am Personally I dislike corner baths. Have you considered just going wall-to-wall left to right in that spot with a normal bath and putting the heating element on the right as you walk in ? Do the hard jobs first. I am doing two new bathrooms at the moment and have saved by buying from auctions and IKEA. Where we've had cost blowouts are with plumbers and returning faulty goods which have lead to delays in other areas - Bunnings has been our largest headache in terms of time wasted but are quite good with returns. They just can't reimburse you for time lost To give you an idea of some possible savings in materials We got tiles that retail for $40+ for $28psm from our local supplier for convenience sake, and I could have got them for as low as $16psm from laws auctions (sydney) shower mixer and diverter for $130 from laws loos for $130 each delivered to us by grays an extra large rainhead shower for <$50 delivered by grays basins from IKEA <300 Bathroom suppliers tend to be way overpriced IMO and I struggle to understand why anyone would pay some of the retail prices demanded.
