Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 19, 2010 8:10 pm Hi, we are renovating our bathroom and just wondering if white grout is a bad idea in a shower area. We will be only using the bathroom for about 10 months, so long term is not a real concern in this instance! Appreciate anyones experience with this. Thanks, Re: White grout in shower - bad idea? 2Oct 19, 2010 9:27 pm I have white tiles and grout in my current house and have been here 9 years - and it's been fine. Cleaned weekly so nothing black ever turned up! I did have them professionally cleaned before we sold the house a few weeks ago, but really they never looked awful! ...I love the look so much I'm doing it again in my current house. No issues for me at all - plus in such a small timeframe you should be fine. The dude who cleaned the tile just reminded me to "squggie" the whole shower down after you use it - tiles and shower screen and you'll be fine. Re: White grout in shower - bad idea? 4Oct 19, 2010 10:02 pm We re-tiled our bathroom 3 yrs ago and did white tiles with white grout. I do find I have to scrub, in the 'wetter' corners. I don't use chemicals just fibres and marble paste, I am told that a bit of bleach would solve the problem. We are moving next year so I think I will need to get the mould stains prof cleaned. the new house with have a darker grout, well, this is the plan if I can find a tile I like! Although - if you arn't using your bath that much... and you dry it down after use you will probably be fine!
