Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 19, 2010 12:28 pm This is probably going to be a REALLY stupid question, but I don’t really care. Lol. I want quotes for new tiles in my ensuite. But I’m not sure tiling places (that sell tiles) are like carpet places in that when you go to pick out carpet, you book in then for someone to come and lay the carpet for you. But is it the same for tiles? It seems that you’re meant to simply BUY the tiles and then find someone ELSE to actually tile for you. I’m fairly sure places like Andersens that does tiles as well as carpets and other flooring would have someone come out and lay your tiles for you, but what about more tile-specific places like Beaumont Tiles and Majer Tiles? Do they JUST sell tiles and that’s it? Also, the places that DO sell and lay tiles, are they more expensive than places that just sell them? Thanks so much! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Tiling places that also actually TILE for you? 2Oct 19, 2010 2:10 pm I am pretty sure all the major tile places will tile it for you. In saying that, it will be a contractor not an employee of the company. So maybe a reason there are so many tilers separate from these big tile places is so people who buy the tiles know who they're getting to do the job? Or something? Indeed and show customer service arrogance so you'll end up paying lot more Re: Tiling places that also actually TILE for you? 5Oct 22, 2010 3:19 pm I run my own tile shop and dont know of many that offer the service you require. As I point out to my clients the majority of shops doing supply and lay just use seperate contractors (even large bathroom renovators with supply there own tiles taps etc - i.e Harvey Norman). You will get a better price, better job control and the your paying the tiler direct. If your not happy with something well dont pay - unlike paying a third party and then hoping they can sort things out in case theres a dilema. Cheers Charlie Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7547 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones. Bugger of a job getting the old… 0 8088 4 14463 |
