Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 11, 2010 10:41 pm We are renovating our bathroom and have an old ivory coloured bath that we'd like to make white. I've had a couple of quotes for re-surfacing/spraying and they are around the $600 mark, which seems pretty expensive. There are DIY kits out on the market. Has anyone used one and know if they're ok? http://www.tubbydiy.com.au/8-resurface.html http://www.whiteknightpaints.com.au/pro ... tub-n-tile Our bath is in pretty good condition, so we really only need to make it white rather than repair damage. Any thoughts? Re: Has anyone used a DIY kit to resurface a bath? 2Oct 16, 2010 8:10 am When i revonated my rental property i had the same problem a friend of mine told me that he painted he's bath and shower base in 2pac white. If you know someone handy with a spray gun like a panel beater/spray painter prep the area with high fill rub back spray with 2k white wait to dry, rub with 1200 paper and cut and polish looks amazing. Cost me under $100 dollars for material and it's been 3 years no problem.... http://allyslilcastle.blogspot.com/ Re: Has anyone used a DIY kit to resurface a bath? 3Oct 16, 2010 9:21 am Hi cookie I have not done it yet however i have the same predicament my bathtub is also kind of light ivory/brown and it has peeled off showing a blue layer so if painted it would be uneven. What Ally recommend it may not be practical since you need a special airless gun (expensive) to use with 2pak besides 2pak is highly quite toxic I would be inclined to sand back the bathtub and then use the resurfacing kit at least you have all the ingredients to use in that kit anyway. White king I would use it more for tiles rather than bathtubs. Check out your local paint shop too they should be helpful with priming, undercoats and enameling paints.
