Mel Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 5Oct 10, 2010 12:38 am I would too but imagine CLEANING all that grout?!!! That is enough to put me off! Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 6Oct 11, 2010 8:12 am wow .. I wish we could afford something like that ! *sigh* We are going to have feature strips in shower rooms. We have been quoted 200 bucks (5 sheets of 150*600 mosaics) for that...can't imagine how much this would cost !! Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 7Oct 11, 2010 9:16 am I know. I found this pic in a fancy architecture magazine, so obviously BIG BUCKS!!! Chinese about $30sqm, European starting around $60-$70 a sqm. Much better colour and texture range in the Euro products. But I must agree not the most pratical choice in a wet area...cleaning, grout etc. In our designs we always try to minimse the use of mosaics in wet areas. Cheers Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 9Oct 11, 2010 12:53 pm Be prepared for a lot of cleaning, and dont forget, once the grout takes a stain,it is usually very very hard to get rid off. I tend to go for more clean/plain finishes rater than more grouting. Easier to clean, looks less clutered. Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them. Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 10Oct 11, 2010 1:12 pm I have recently had my ensuite done with a very similar look-except I * a little when I found out the cost involved (plus my tiler warned me of the grout discolouration that will eventuate). I opted for a tile that has small mosiacs all thru it (300x300mm) so once completed looks as though it's all mosaics. Had lots of comments on how great it looks. It's only when I point it out that people realise its NOT mosaics. Check out some good tile shops (or bathroom supplies)- they should have them in stock. cheers Suzy Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 11Oct 11, 2010 9:35 pm Thanks for that tip Suzy, I will check it out. SOOOO hard to clean. so we got mosaics only in our shower niches, and have really large white horizontal tiles everywhere else... the less grout the better! Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 13Oct 17, 2010 11:44 am Love, love love that photo! Linen green is one of my fave colours in glass mosaic; it looks so fresh with white sanitary ware. Our house still has the original mosaics through the bathroom but they are 50mm everywhere except the shower bases, which are 25mm. I absolutely love the look and (maybe 'cos they are white) the style hasn't dated in over 30 years. You can get the grout epoxied, which will seal the surface & the colour. If we ever get around to re-tiling the bathrooms I'll be doing full mosaic again, it's my absolute fave. Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 14Oct 26, 2010 11:15 am Surely mosaic tile sheets would be within the price range? The other issue might be is that a friend of ours tiled their entire ensuite area with mosaic tiles - it looks fabbo but a couple of tiles have come out here and there, and I suspect this might be an ongoing issue with this type of finish. Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 15Oct 26, 2010 12:29 pm I went and chose bathroom tiles last week and chickened out of the total mosaic look. The grout cleaning was a factor, and so many people said I would get sick of it. I am a bit sad. Here is what we chose. Almost the opposite, very conservative, and not even a feature tile for the ensuite LOL! White tiles are for the wall, grey for the floor. Vanity tops will be white stone, not sure exactly which Caesarstone to choose yet?? http://www.flickr.com/photos/55138728@N03/5115964383/ And for the kid's bathroom: http://www.flickr.com/photos/55138728@N03/5115964465/ A big family building a custom home in the New Rouse Hill with Right Build Homes. http://thecastle6.blogspot.com/ Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=41250&start=0 Re: Tiling the whole shower in mosaics. 17Oct 26, 2010 2:43 pm Thudd The other issue might be is that a friend of ours tiled their entire ensuite area with mosaic tiles - it looks fabbo but a couple of tiles have come out here and there, and I suspect this might be an ongoing issue with this type of finish. Nope. The size of tiles should not be an issue if they're properly installed. Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7542 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones.
