Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 08, 2010 6:31 pm I used my White Knight grout pen for the first time last night on just a few "sample" bits of grout in my shower. The grout was clean and just sort of discoloured over time...a bit grey. None of that discolouration comes off with scrubbing or cleaning and was there since we bought our place 2.5 years ago. So I used the pen, and it worked and paint came out and such, but I put 3 "coats" on, and it looked good for a few seconds but then it seemed to "soak into" the grout and the grey came through clearly again. It's not QUITE as grey as it was before, but...even now it's totally dried, the grey is still clearly visible. Is this meant to happen, or is the white paint stuff supposed to come out "stronger" and more vibrant white? How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: White Knight Grout Pen...Kinda Pale / Watery? 2Oct 11, 2010 12:23 pm Hi Grace The grout pens are not suitable for wet areas, if you want to clean it better you need an acid base solution we use phosforic acid on grout it works great there is a supplier near you at Total Supply Solutions: 14 Northview st Mermaid Beach ask for phos power and a small grout brush and mix it a 50% water 50% acid spray with trigger sprayer for 5 min than scrub the grout joint with a small grout brush, rinse well than repeat if needed. Use in a well ventilated area or wear a mask and gloves. Hope this helps. Craig Re: White Knight Grout Pen...Kinda Pale / Watery? 3Oct 11, 2010 4:28 pm Actually, it looks pretty good now. I re-read the pen and it says to do TWO coats. D'oh! lol. It doesn't say not to use it in wet areas...how come they're marketed for use in showers and bathrooms mainly if they're not suited to wet areas??? All these people who're using tile paint and then the grout pen to paint on the grout in their showers and bathrooms are being screwed!! lol How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: White Knight Grout Pen...Kinda Pale / Watery? 4Oct 12, 2010 10:04 am Yes it amazes me that they say that as we have tried using it in alll different applications, you will find it will wear off in a wet area and dry areas from what we have seen.
