If they are glossy it helps to get a grinder and a diamond tile cutting well as run it over the tiles cutting in to the biscuit past the glaze. you dont need to remove it all but some cross marks, just to expose some of the biscuit. Then make sure you clean the surface up so no dust is on the tiles.
