Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 29, 2010 7:00 pm I am planning to redesign my old bathroom. The family bathroom is in the groud floor. I stripped it clean. I am planning to have some tiles stick to the walls and get some new taps and a shower. The bathroom is medium sized bathroom. I am 60 years old. I am planning to make the bathroom as comfortable for me as possible to use it in the future when i grow older. Any helpful suggestions. Re: Decorating 3Sep 30, 2010 3:14 pm Maybe make the shower a step in one so it is level with the floor rather than having a lip to step over (and potentially trip on when you are older). If you put in a bath, maybe have it sunk lower into the floor or have a step up into it and a handrail. In addition to what others have suggested, I'd be asking the local council or occupational therapist at a community health service to give you some advice on future proofing. That might mean things like:
Those are just a few of the things that spring to mind. Best wishes, hope you end up with a lovely bathroom. e. |
