Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 19, 2010 11:01 pm Bathroom Reno done V happy with it We also got the same guy to tile laundry and toilet. Both average size and we paid for tiles. We were charged $1700 That was to tile laundry and toilet and included the price of new laundry sink, plus install of mixer tap, and toilet removed and reinstalled after tiles done. Is this a normal price.? I have no idea, but seems a lot of cash. Re: Tiling done ...were we ripped off ? 2Sep 19, 2010 11:43 pm Doesn't sound too bad. It's not just the cost of the tiles, adhesive and grouting all come at a cost as well. Tilers also charge for the number of cuts they need to make to get tiles to fit. Re: Tiling done ...were we ripped off ? 5Sep 20, 2010 10:34 pm Hi, Just had a new ensuite added. The tiler was paid to gut the room (it was a laundry); then returned a couple weeks later after other trades been (carpenter, plumber, electrician, plasterer) to take out floorboards where shower floor will be, install universal shower base, tile floor, vanity splash back, shower niche, 100mm tile skirts, grout, seal, take away rubbish. He was paid $1600. He quoted me $1300, but I wanted to go the universal shower base that was $330, and a bit more preparation. I am not sure whether I paid too much or it was just right. Hope it helps you though! Re: Tiling done ...were we ripped off ? 6Sep 21, 2010 6:53 pm Wow, I was quoted $2100 for a tiler to tile a TINY ensuite, after we had removed all of the current tiles. He is providing grout (& doing the waterproofing), we have the tiles. Think I might get another quote!! Re: Tiling done ...were we ripped off ? 7Sep 22, 2010 7:11 am This was three years ago, but we had our teeny-tiny ensuite retiled (walls only, floor tiles were still OK) and paid the tiler $300 for this: Remove shower screen, remove old tiles from shower and vanity splashback Replace waterproof board in the shower Retile both areas, providing grout, glue etc - we provided the tiles Remove rubbish It was a one-day job, just a few hours. I thought it was super-cheap. Re: Tiling done ...were we ripped off ? 8Sep 25, 2010 4:59 pm Wow, I HOPE if / when we get our ensuite re-tiled it'd be that cheap!! We'd want to just do the floor tiles. The wall tiles are fine, except we'd want to remove a row of 4 tiles that look kinda randomly placed on the wall near the medicine thing that'll also be removed. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing. Thorough reports with photos at every stage,… 6 7102 I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15244 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this?
