Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 19, 2010 9:17 pm Hi Asking a question for my parents who are building at the moment. In their main bathroom they are having a shower bath along the back wall. On this wall there is also a window going the full width of the wall up high approx 60cm in height. The window sill is likely to cop some spray from the shower and they are obviously concerned about water damage. Is there any way to avoid this happening? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks Donna Re: Does anyone have a window over a shower bath? 2Sep 19, 2010 9:19 pm Perhaps they could think about glass bricks instead of a window? Then it could come further down and let in even more light. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Does anyone have a window over a shower bath? 3Sep 19, 2010 9:27 pm Make sure the window surround is tiled. This should make it no worse than a shower nook. Also, consider having the window start a few hundred millimetres away from the shower outlet. Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them. Re: Does anyone have a window over a shower bath? 5Sep 19, 2010 9:55 pm Thanks. It is to late for the glass brick option as the window is in. We were wondering about tiling the sill but couldn't picture it. Would love to see a pic if anyone has one. Cheers Donna Re: Does anyone have a window over a shower bath? 6Sep 19, 2010 11:04 pm We've got a similar situation - shower with a full height window. We're not sure what the window should be made of yet. Glass bricks is the obvious choice for privacy (the shower window faces an internal deck, but the other side of the deck faces the living room). I thought about some sort of one way glass, but I think that relies upon light levels on one side of the glass. Then there is the obvious - the glass is going to be fogged up most of the time when there is someone in there!
