We do it ourselves so the extra materials is not a drama. however, have seen some very exxy quotes on here recently to tile to the ceiling. I would ask how much $ if I were you. I think it can look fantastic if the tiles are nice ones. small white square ones might tend to look a little bit public toilet-ish. But would always do up to the ceiling in nice tiles if I could afford it. I don't mind the whole walls tiled thing but it does close in a room IMHO. It also means that any changes in the future will be expensive. I have it to the ceiling in a rectangular tile, off white, neutral color with a border tile a bit above midway. 15 yrs on I still love it and haven't tired of it. But then it has a dark slate floor (nearly black) which I still like, and I gather from this forum they are supposed to be out of date, so what would I know OH renovates bathrooms and says about 30-40% of the jobs they do the full job to the roof. His personal opinion is that if doing the full wall it looks better with bigger tiles (600 * 300).
