While the cut strips in the last shower pic are very narrow, the only way to avoid such a narrow cut would have been to have the tiles start at the vanity unit and extend across - and I think that may have made the vanity space look cramped. It's probably more of a function of the width of the tiles and the width of the space rather than poor planning on the tiler's part. (He hasn't done that for the other showers.) I wouldn't be too disappointed just yet - you would be amazed how much less noticeable the strips are once it is grouted and the room is painted. Possibly both depending on the sizing.
