Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 06, 2010 5:35 pm I'm sick of seeing the store-bought Bunnings-style ones. You know, they're NICE but...blaaah. I have different taste. I don't want white with tinted glass and tiny little legs on the bottom. I want a more "antique" look. I've considered finding a second hand dressing table or something and putting a nice basin on it (with proper plumbing obviously), but what about a custom-made vanity? Who does these? Somebody must! Cabinetmakers perhaps? Here are my favs that I'd LOVE to have made for me (one of them. Not all. I'm not greedy. lol) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ How the hell did I become a senior member!? I LOVE some of those vanities in that Schotts place. VERY nice...a tad pricey perhaps for me...I wonder if a cabinetmaker would do similar styles cheaper... What sort of price should I be paying for a 800mm timber unit with a cut-out for a basin? I need 4 so I can't afford the schotts. I can't believe how hard the vanities are........ Re: Does anyone make custom-made bathroom vanities? 7Oct 28, 2010 10:40 pm Bam Yep, cabinet makers haha, beat me to it Re: Does anyone make custom-made bathroom vanities? 8Oct 28, 2010 10:50 pm I have had a couple of quote from cabinet makers but their prices seem to be higher than a schotts one? Re: Does anyone make custom-made bathroom vanities? 9Oct 29, 2010 8:26 am I went to a (well, several) furniture store and picked out a sideboard with suitable dimensions to use as a vanity. Because we are using countertop sinks all we need to do is drill a hole through the top for the drains and a small rebate to mount the sink. But a 'regular' sink would still work, you just make sure you pick a unit where the top line of drawers is deep enough to accommodate the sink(s). This is not what we got but is along the same lines: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Because there a zillions more styles of sideboard than there are vanities you can go nuts in creating a different look! We are going for a modern darkish look but with rustic tropical hints. Re: Does anyone make custom-made bathroom vanities? 10Nov 26, 2010 12:06 am grace_slick Thank you! I got my tiles from Schots...had them shipped from Melbourne to Cairns. Very happy with them. You could ring them and see if there are any clearance vanities. I change the style of my tiles (you can see them on my thread) slightly because the clearance ones were $1.70 ea and the full price were $9.55 ea. Worth asking.
