But if i can go only to a metre high will save us about $1500. Do you think that would still look okay. Thanks heaps Caz Re: How high for wall tiles 2Jul 30, 2010 10:44 pm We've decided to go 1200 high which I think tends to be a common height if you're not going to the ceiling. One thing about only having your tiles up to a certain point. . . you can add a feature wall, jazz up your bathroom a bit if you're going neutral like we did. Thanks heaps Caz How expensive per m2 are your tiles and how big is your bathroom? To save $1500 by going just 600mm lower you must have a massive bathroom or gold plated tiles. Re: How high for wall tiles 8Sep 10, 2010 9:22 am Hi I know it is more expensive to go all the way to ceiling and especially on all walls.....but it is SO WORTH IT!!!!!!. You will forget the money when you have it finished and walk into a bathroom that hasnt had it done. I've done both ways and no matter what, I think the part wall tiled always looks cheaper. And the cleaning is a lot more than if you tile to the ceiling. Dust will get in every nook and cranny remember. Our next bathroom renov will definately be floor to ceiling - no ifs or buts. Re: How high for wall tiles 9Sep 10, 2010 2:16 pm Our minor ensuites are all only done to the minimum - ie 2m in the shower then skirting height on the remaining walls. The main bedroom's ensuite is tiled to the ceiling (except the separate toilet which is only skirting height). Whilst I do love the fully tiled look it was going to cost us an extra $8k to do all 4 bathrooms so we chose to do it the above. The minor ensuite are not going to be fully utilised until the kidlets are old enough to shower unattended so we chose to do our bathroom which is so far where the whole family is bathing.
