Hi,
we are about to start a renovation. I've always liked the American tapware. They tend to have more choice than in Australia. Does anyone know if you can use tapware made for the US market in Australia?
Cheers.

First, they are not Wels rated and therefore are not approved for use here. A new home builder probably wouldn't let you use them, but I wonder if the chinese junk on ebay is Wels rated? I doubt it. Secondly, much of the tapware comes with a hole in the back centre of the spouts which are for the manual basin stoppers that have a linkage. You can install them leaving that out, but it may not be to your asthetical tastes. Thirdly, think of parts. They will be non-existant here so if you're stuck on a Saturday morning, you'll be stuck for a while. I thought about doing it for a while, but decided against it for above reasons. I went with Dorf Kemi Lever tapware all around, as they are very similar to a lot of the stuff on the American market now. Actually, they are a bit better as they use Ceramic discs and most of the lever stuff in the US uses a plastic sideways valve. Find images of the stuff you like and take it to your local plumbing supplies (Tradelink, Reece, etc), usually we can find something similar or close to what you are after. Unfortunately the style I like is not easy to find in Australia. http://www.deltafaucet.com/bath/details/3551.html I'll keep looking in Australia then. Re: Sourcing tapware from the US 5Jun 27, 2010 11:04 am I see what you mean. Have you seen the Citi range by Bastow? Sorry the only link I could find was a PDF of the brochure. It comes with a lever handle option as well as cross handle. I know its not the same but it does have some similar elements you might consider. http://www.tradelink.com.au/resources/a ... 200807.pdf Possumchops Now the proud owner of 3.7acres of Serenity.
